Every visit to the Marshlands is a relaxing, enjoyable, "no surprises" experience. Lucy and Barry are great hosts and always make us feel like we are coming home for a visit. After a few days we were joined by our very, very best friends, who received the same warm welcome from Lucy and Barry. You cannot go wrong with any... More

I stayed at the Marshland Inn in January 2013 while visiting Sackville for a tour of Mount Allison University. The room was large and clean with interesting nick nacks giving the place a homey feel or a bit like Grandma's house. We stayed in the Carriage House where there are several rooms. The Inn is walking distance to the University.... More

New Year's Eve dinner at the Marshlands was lovely. There was a choice of five first courses: including soup, salads, and seafood; and five entrees, including chicken, salmon, beef, pork, and seafood. The vegetables were plentiful and fresh. The Inn's public rooms are beautifully decorated for the holidays--it must take days to set up the festive displays. We have stayed... More

We have been eating at Marshlands Inn for the past 25 years. It's just the past several years we have realized how special it is. After eating in the noisy crowded restaurants of Halifax, we have found a special sancutary in dining at the Marshlands. Just finished a quiet Sunday light dinner at the Marshlands. Great food, of course their... More

We had to wait for at least five minutes (after ringing the bell twice) at reception. Thought we would be staying in the main house ( which is beautiful) but we got stuck in a very ordinary room in the carriage house. We had a TV but learned that the rooms in the main house do not have TVs. There... More

The Marshlands Inn is quite simply, fabulous. The decor is charming. The food is wonderful. The owners are personable in their own unique way. For anyone who wants to escape the misery of 21st. Century life and and escape to a place where peace and tranquility reign, head post haste to the Marshlands Inn.

The atmosphere at this restaurant is elegant and quaint. We eat there often when in town. Hope you get there the day they make brown bread rolls....out of this world!!! They are made in-house as is the white rolls...worth a trip to the restaurant just for them. The seafood chowder is also excellent. My favorite is the salmon...but I`m not... More

We both ate dinner and stayed the night. First- the dinner. Reviewer Susan C nails it- I immediately thought of Basil Fawlty as well. We were more amused than annoyed by the husband and wife team- Barry and Lucy Dane-easy to tell she wears the pants, scolding staff and guests alike, glowering at hubby as he ineffectually tries to pick... I really struggled to rate this one. There's no doubt that the food was good, and that is its redeeming feature. However, the service was completely bizarre - the only way to deal with it is to view it as part of the entertainment. See it as dinner with Basil Fawlty. Service was painfully slow and completely disjointed (e.g. 'sorry,... More

Forget about everything else , just eat the food her is magnificent. The beds are clean, comfortable, the grounds are superb. This is obviously a labor of love for the owners.
