My husband and I stayed on the third floor, but the live music from the bar (6 nights out of 7) begins at 11 p.m., goes until 2 a.m., and is fully audible on the top floor. For me it was Impossible to fall asleep until it ended. The room was ok (though you have to like a somewhat unusual... More

Perfect location for restaurants and nightlife. Although some complain about the noise from the bar and street below travelling through the rooms, we had zero issue on this end. We stayed on the third floor on a Friday night, and if it's a concern then third floor may be the solution. A visit to the pub below should not be... More

Drove into beautiful Moncton, New Brunswick and found that most hotels were booked solid with conferences. Stumbled across the St.James and stayed 2 nights as the hotel was so clean, elegant and comfortable. Very nice service all round and great bar/pub with superb food selection at street level.

The St. James is a great boutique hotel with all the a great features: Hardwood floor, large flat screen tv, dvd in room, cable box, upscale decor. The friendly and professional staff make staying here a joy. Some draw backs are, no picturesque view of Moncton, no on site parking (however, they do validate), no elevators (bring your muscles -... I have been wanting to try out this hotel for awhile and it did not dissapoint. The staff was helpful and the room was spacious and romantic. we were in a king suite on the second floor. We will likely stay again at some point but will stay on the third floor where the noise level is less.

I almost ended up at a different hotel, because this one was so far down the list I didnt even notice it! Thankfully I was lucky enough to read about it in a travel guide book on Eastern Canada. I am really picky about hotels, I would say that I am pretty much a hotel snob in a way- and... More

This hotel has really nice city modern look inside the rooms. It's heated-floors in bathrooms and its walk-tru shower is really nice. Has a romantic aspect to the design. One thing to consider, noisy because of the pub with musician on lower level. This aspect was unpleasant

Decor was nice and clean. Very modern, minimalist. Sleep quality was so so due to the noise from the bar downstairs. Setup of rooms are nice as they are all suites. Definitely loved the soaking tub in the bedroom..nice romantic touch. Need to invest in better sound proofing. Breakfast in room available upon request but needs to be ordered before... More

The hotel is PERFECT for couples who are looking for an up scale hotel at an affordable price. Would not be a place to stay with children. The rooms are clean and very nicely decorated. Have stayed in suites which include a soak tub in the room and in the basic rooms as well. Have always enjoyed our stay. The... More

The ear plugs on the bedside table are a tip off that this hotel is noisy. It's not just the music that blares until 2 am but the rowdy patrons with screaming, hollering and general mayhem that make for a sleepless night. It's a shame as the rooms are nicely appointed and clean - although I'm not a fan of... More
