After a few years this is my second visit to this hotel. I found it exactly the way it was: large enough and tastefully decorated lobby, a lounge with comfortable leather arm-chairs, bar nearby, food service and to top it all; a piano player. The rooms were spacious with high ceilings, furnished effectively with tasteful items. Far better then any... More

I love staying at this hotel -- my friends and I make a yearly trip to Winnipeg, mostly just to stay at the Fort Garry. I love the ambience of this hotel -- it's not the most updated and it doesn't have the highest finishes in the rooms, but it more than makes up for that with charm and with... More

I have to say the Fort Garry has spoiled me, I stayed at another hotel on my way to Ottawa last week, and the service was sub-par compared to the Fort Garry. The staff make you feel like family, and I always feel welcomed and looked after.

Beautiful, and old (102 years) has classic touches . Staff are great, professional and prompt, service was great. Nice personal touches like complimentary coffee or tea service direct to your room ( in lieu of in room coffee maker), valet and room services made for an enjoyable stay. Beautiful lounge, with live evening entertainment, great food, very nice ballroom/meeting room.... More

I agree with many of the reviews that this hotel needs some updating and a bit of love. I really liked the historical look of the hotel. My room was clean and had everything I needed. The furnishings were old and looked tired but the bed and bedding were excellent. Little things like broken lamps detract from the overall appeal... More

While I would agree this hotel can be a bit shabby in places (mostly in the bedrooms) this is a grand old hotel. Helpful staff. No tea and coffee in rooms but you can order it free on room service and they deliver 24 hours a day so you can have fresh tea and coffee waiting outside your room in... More

We stayed here for a total of three nights in February. The hotel is old and has been partially renovated. The good: The rooms are comfortable. Most of the staff is helpful, but some of the front desk clerks are more helpful than others. We were able to exchange money at the front desk without difficulty. The dining room and... More

Leaning more towards "old" than "grand". Beautiful lobby and public spaces. The guest rooms have been updated with fresh carpets, and bathroom fixtures, but still have some limitations. The windows are not large so the room never felt bright. The biggest drawback was the lack of soundproofing. I could hear my neighbours and everything going on in the hallway. Also,... More

The history of the hotel is cool and you are defiantly stepping back in time in some aspects of staying at the fort Garry. The decor is kind of confusing. They need to either choose to go with the old school antique look or modernize the place with a touch of its history. There was an antique desk with mirror... More

The Fort Garry is a nice, historic hotel in the downtown area of Winnipeg near The Forks, which you'd likely want to visit. The reason I say "nice" and not "beautiful" or "fantastic" is that the common areas are well-maintained but the rooms are pretty tired. Our room had a tv in it that I haven't seen since I got...
