BAD: First of all, don't drink the water. That's right, the Aquafina that's ever so nicely placed with cups for your convinence. It's 5 dollars plus tax. They tell you when you check out that theres a written warning on it...But I swear I didn't see it, nor did my girlfriend. Also, the Fitness Area...where the pool is was such... more

For starters...who is the marketing director here? How many people actually want to stay in a haunted hotel. NOT ME! I was told by a local that this is actually the staging point of Winnipeg ghost tour. Is that suppose to intice someone to stay here? You can actually pick up a 'haunted hotel' brochure at the front desk which... more

I had a wonderful stay in room 114. It has 3 large rooms with 22 foot high ceilings in it. Service was 5* and the staff are very helpful. It is a treat, that I take part in every few months. As I have friends that come in from Montreal and Edmonton : about 3 xs a year we always... more

This hotel is a curious mix of good and bad. The good: it's in an impressive, well-built building that has a bit more charm than the average Motel 8... The location is excellent, although Winnipeg, contrarily to most other large cities of its size, does not have freeways running between its peripheral highway to the center of the city, like... more

As a very frequent business traveler who travels all over North America 100 nights/year and usually stays at large chain hotels (Marriott, Westin, Hyatt, Fairmont).....this place reminded me of why I like the chains. We had a family gathering there and used it for its charm - but I would likely favor the Fairmont in Winnipeg upon returning to the... more

I stayed at the Fort Garry Hotel twice in November 2008: at the beginning and end of a chartered train trip up to Churchill on Hudson Bay. The hotel's public spaces were grand; the breakfast very good (the signature Sunday brunch awesome); the room clean and the bed very comfortable; and the prices extremely reasonable. This is an old hotel... more

It was just a quick trip to Winnipeg on business. A colleague booked me at the Fort Garry for one night. A great hotel experience! Check in was professional, fast, courteous and flawless. The room was not huge by modern standards, but well-appointed - queen size bed, non smoking, desk, couple of wing-back chairs, lots of closet and a full... more

If you want to stay in a historic hotel in downtown, the Fort Garry is great. I stayed there one night for business and found it comfortable and easy going. The staff were great and the centrally located dining room/bar is lovely and had a nice evening buzz with guests/locals socializing. The room was nice, but the bathroom could use... more

Everyone should stay in one of Canada's turn-of-the-century Railway Hotels at least once. It's a quintessential Canadian experience. Previous reviews have described the antique charm, the coffee service and the neighbourhood more than adequately, so I'll just add four new points: 1) Internet is $10 a day, or a weekly rate is also available. 2) The hotel was cleverly designed... more
