On a pretty short whim, I opted to drive from Minneapolis to as far north as you can reasonably drive in Manitoba. That road ends just shy of 1000 miles north in Thompson, MB. Really the property is called the "Burnt Wood" what was my first clue that I should have walked the other way!! Not many choices in the wild tundra of Manitoba so I was pretty much stuck with my reservation. The building indeed had a funny smell to it like burnt wood, I mean it no joke To top things off the service was lousy and the decore in the hotel seemed to be missed matched and maybe picked up at a thrift store in the town? Anyway I was only there overnight but wont be going back anytime soon. Thanks for nothing. Burntwood! more
