Arrived by 70X Downtown Express bus from Swartz Bay ferry terminal, alighting at the stop on Hillside off Blanshard, just before the bus turns left onto Douglas Street. Even with luggage it was fairly easy to cross the busy road junction towards the hotel which you can see from there. As my old "Rider's Guide" Victoria bus timetable was dated... More

Poor experience. Pet friendly means you get to hear other people's dogs bark all night. The key card system failed (must have a card to use elevator stairs) we had random people banging on our door at 3:30am... How did they get to our floor without a key card? staff approached them but left them in the hall to still... More

Thank you for your feedback regarding your most recent stay with us. I do apologize for the experience in which you encountered regarding the noise on your stay New Years Eve. We take great measures to ensure minimal noise throughout the entire hotel. This includes many hallway walks to ensure all noise is minimal. As you stated our hotel is... More

I have read some of the previous reviews, I was wondering if I was at the same location or the folks were looking for a 5 Star hotel at the cost of a 2 star. Yes each of us have our own tastes and idiosyncrasies but I am a realist, you get what you pay for. In this instance I... More

There are better choices for a hotel in Victoria. Only positive thing I can say is the location. Wasn't the cheapest hotel, the beds were uncomfortable, the room was lacking in features (only a few TV channels, no fridge, no microwave) and the bathroom was dirty.

If your looking for a five star hotel them keep looking. If your looking for good value ten this hotel offers clean rooms, good location and has good staff. Some of the hotel has been renovated and some of it is older. We paid 89/ night and felt we got good value.

Staying at this location only because we had a last minute need to come to Victoria for one night and had a free night from the Sandman Lucky 13 program. I normally only stay at Sandman Signature hotels as I've learned from experience that the regular Sandman Hotels are not great, this one was no different. The hotel has had... More

We ended up staying in Victoria last minute and were able to grab a room at the Sandman. It is relatively close to the downtown centre so our cab back that night was affordable (although not walking distance to any major attraction). We ended up in a suite as there was no standard rooms left, which was fine with us.... More

The hotel overlooks one of the main roads to access Victoria, a car wash and a pretty depressing parking lot...And the green you see in the picture? We didn't find any...Not the best panorama. It is also quite far from the town center (30 min on foot - if you are young and fit) where the sightseeing and most of... More

One night was enough. Sandman must be manufacturing their own brand of the entire spectrum of brown paint. The whole hotel is decked out in depressing shades of yes, brown. The room was large but just felt like I couldn't relax as it felt grotty for want of a better word. No duvets but some awful type of synthetic blanket.... More

Considering where you are in Victoria, the rate was about the only real pleasantry of this hotel. Being attached to Shark Club was a plus but only for an hour or so. The room was nicely placed but in dire need of updating. The only modern thing in the room was a flat wall mounted TV. The bed was awful... More
