We were very disappointed in this hotel/inn. Although the hotel is historic, the furnishing are just old and outdated. There was a huge gap under the door of Room 319 and the curtains didn't cover the entire windows so it was hard to sleep after 5:30 a.m. A plus was the huge bathroom and double shower heads.

We had a Clipper hotel package for two nights, so our room was pre-paid. When we arrived in Victoria we dropped by, they confirmed the reservation and told us to come back at 3 pm. At 5 pm we called to say we might not check in until 7 pm, which they said was fine. At 7 pm we arrived... More

My daughter and I stayed here while attending a wedding in town. It was everything we expected after reading reviews on trip advisor. The food in the restaurant is worth a visit. The rooms are kept very clean and fostered a cosy homey feel. Bathroom was huge, and if your one of those tourists that's always complaining about small rooms... More

We just returned from a vacation in Victoria, and stayed at the Cottage owned and operated by James Bay Inn. The cottage is located behind the Inn on a quiet residential street. The 2 bedrooms are quite spacious, and furnished well with queen size beds and desks. The living room contains 3 chesterfields, 2 of them being queens size hide-a-beds.... More

For a 100 year old hotel, it was pretty nice. Located about 6 blocks from downtown in a residential area, it was quiet & for the budget minded, perfect. No refrigerator in the room (but there is a place for leftovers at the front desk) or hair dryer in the room, also available at the front desk. Nice friendly staff.... More

I stayed here for family issues in 2010 and wanted nothing more than a quite place to rest my head, work in the evenings and go about my business...and this is exactly what the James Bay Inn offered me. The room was spotless, the staff helpful, the hot water always hot and the internet fast. I want nothing more from... More

I stayed for four nights in early November. I was attending a conference at the Empress Hotel, just down the street. Most of the other delegates were staying at the Empress but as I was paying my way, I stayed at the James Bay, to save $. I live near Vancouver and have visited Victoria a few times, so knew... The hotel is located just a few blocks from the inner harbor. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms could use some updating, but they are very clean and comfortable. Beware there is no elevator, but that was not a problem for us.

Based on value, JBI can not be beat. We absolutely loved our stay there over Thanksgiving. We had a cozy corner room on the second room and it had everything we needed. The parking and internet were free and the staff were very friendly. The building is charming and it's in a great location. Just 10 minutes walk to the... More

The front desk staff are nice, but we were not prepared for a hotel that smelled like stale beer and grease. We booked to stay in the hotel as this hotel was recommended by the group that runs ferry the to Port Angeles. The room we had was very clean but the hotel itself is not like the small inns... More
