We opted to rent the private cottage, with two bedrooms, common shower, fully equipped kitchen and large living hall. The cottage (no:590) is located just behind the main hotel building. The area around the property is quiet however its only just a short 8 minutes walk to attractions nearby. Located nearby is the Parliament house, BC museum and Fairmont hotel. Its... More

I couldn't stay in my usual place so I booked this. This is what was apparently formerly a rooming house or large home in the James Bay area. It has been nicely restored. The room I had was small and basic with a double bed and a shower and no bath. There is a pub and restaurant on site. Despite... More

James bay inn is located facing beacon hill park. Quaint, quire and cozy. It is only steps to the harbour. This place is a unique and historic hotel. It truly have exceptional accodations and spacious family style. The rooms are freshly appointed as well. There are kitchens too in the suites if you stay in the heritage house. Close to... More

From the initial enquiry over the phone to the moment we paid our bill, the James Bay inn delivered a service any hotel should aspire to. Steve the manager arranged the booking, he was friendly and helpful throughout. After discussing our requirements Steve recommended a suit in the neighbouring annex, an Edwardian house which was clean and spacious, with a comprehensive... More

Quiet and comfortable hotel located just minutes from downtown Victoria. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Great restaurant and pub located below the hotel. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.

Good location with a nice and affordable restaurant next door and if staying at the hotel you receive a discount voucher. The room was basic but very clean. I would have preferred tea and coffee making facilities in the room. There is complementary tea and coffee in the lobby until 10/11am. Jovan I'm not sure if that's how you spell... More

After spending an hour+ viewing this hotel, guest reviews and room tips we decided James Bay Inn was the perfect choice and wishing for a 3rd floor room facing the Parliament Buildings. When calling to make a reservation were told they could only guarantee the type of room (e.g. Classic Queen, King, etc.) but not the location. You get whatever... More

This hotel is a step back in time. It's an Edwardian masterpiece. Stately, attractive, old. It's like some of the classic hotels in London. Located in a nice residential area, it's away from the hustle of the city. It's really close, though, only a 5 minute walk to the museum, parliament buildings and the Inner Harbor. The rooms have charm.... More

We always love coming out to Victoria! There are cheaper places to stay but I love the proximity to everything when staying at the JBI. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. I especially enjoyed the duel shower heads in the bathroom of our suite!

We came from up-island for a "date" and decided to go to Victoria. We booked online and chose this place because it was close to downtown, walking distance. and withing our budget. The staff was friendly and the hotel was just right. Don't expect fancy modern looking place, the building was built in 1904 and looks it, but it's clean,... More
