This hotel is in a very nice ,quiet, neighborhood near the waterfront. It's a lovely walk to the waterfront, past old Victorian style homes with English gardens. It is very clean and comfortable. It doesn't have elevators or air conditioning, but what a treat to awaken to the birds singing outside your open window. Staff is helpful and friendly. I... More

This hotel is more than 100 years old and has much of the original detail. Very clean and newly painted. The room I had was small but there are larger rooms and suites. For the price and location it was great. It is well located and very quiet. I would definitely return. There was no air conditioning but I went... More

The James Bay Inn is conveniently located a few blocks away from the Parliament Buildings. It is a very quaint, older hotel. It is perfect for couples or singles but there didn't seem to be amenities for kids. I had the family suite on the main floor. It was spacious and clean and the bedding was so luxurious, I never... We booked a garden suite at this historic hotel for a weekend stay in Victoria. We expected a comfortable room. What we found was a lovely, freshly painted 1 bedroom apartment with a spacious living/dining room, well-equipped kitchen, extra comfortable king-sized bed, two TVs and a beautiful garden. The location is another plus...a short walk from the ferry and harbor... More

...but I'm sure we'll get back to Victoria some day, and when we do we'll plan to stay at the James Bay Inn again. We got in quite late and left the following morning. Even after arriving at near 11, we were able to walk out to the center of town to see the legislative buildings illuminated. (The walk was... More

Although it's an older hotel, it has great character. The rooms are clean and roomy- the bed and pillows are very comfortable. The downstairs pub is delicious and reasonably priced. There's no air conditioning so in the summer it can get a little hot but the open windows offer a good breeze! Location is great since its minutes to walk... More

My husband & I stayed here with our toddler on our first visit to B.C. We were so happy to have chosen the James Bay Inn! This is such a charming hotel & much more spacious than I had anticipated. The staff was friendly & helpful. It is within walking distance (10 minutes or less) to many activities like the... More

This hotel is about 100 years old, so don't expect an elevator or air conditioning. And there are steps up to the lobby. But what you should expect is a charming hotel in a peaceful and delightful neighbourhood 10 minutes walk from the city centre. We had a wonderful welcome and a lovely room with a large bathroom and wifi.... More

This hotel is a great choice if you need a nice place to stay and are not worried about having a pool, etc. The front desk staff were pleasant and informative. I was very early so they stored my luggage for me. The price was very reasonable by Victoria standards. The room was very clean and the bedding was luxurious.... More
