This was our second stay at the Union Club, and even though we'd booked a smaller room than previously (and that was simply because nothing else was available), our whole stay was again completely enjoyable. The staff are friendly, welcoming and courteous, and the facilities are very good indeed. Even though renovation work was going on, this was timed for... More

I stayed 3 nights in this historical gem in downtown Victoria. If you want that extra wow stay in one of the suites. The included breakfast is off the full menu and make sure you spend some time looking at the various pictures throughout the hotel. They explain the significant history of the building. I especially liked the history of... More

We stayed there over the holidays. The staff was very efficient and the club was beautiful. There is great security for you and your car. The room was very impressive with its four poster bed. Its location is great being right next to the Empress.

This place is absolutely gorgeous and the overall experience was worth every penny. Wood paneling and stained glass windows and ceilings, beautiful lighting fixtures, leather chesterfields next to large crackling fireplaces, views (from the reading room) of the harbor, the parliament building, and the Empress next door, an old wooden elevator, extremely British touches such as pictures of Winston Churchill... Thank you for taking a moment to provide some details on your experience. We are very happy to hear you enjoyed the classical touches and warm ambiance of our heritage Club. I wish we were better able to meet your expectations regarding the room. Given our 100 year old architecture, some of our older rooms are smaller and don't accommodate... More

Great weekend, away from home, magical, the hotel is 125 years old and in great shape, a real historical building, I felt I was taken to the time this building was built, a real treat. The cantopy bed, and the furniture in the room just added to the experience. The story book in the room added to the adventure of... More

We came upon the Union Club years ago while looking for a nice place in the downtown core, and the Club is right by the Empress on a small connector quiet street. While the room you'll have will probably be toward the small side and the bathroom fixtures possibly a bit antiquated, you will enjoy your stay. Dress is more... More

I stayed in one of the newly renovated King suites. It was very comfortable. The amenities of the club made for a really nice stay. The business meetings that we had at dinner and breakfast in the club were quiet, private, in an eloquent setting.

The Union Club is a very pleasant place to stay in downtown Victoria. As its name implies, it is a private club that offers rooms to paying guests. As a private club, there are expectations of behavior and dress, but nothing that was too difficult for our casual west-coast American selves to contend with. Our room was on the smaller... More

Victoria can be extraordinarily expensive place to stay; however, this small hotel is transforming its rooms into a true first class boutique hotel inside a private club with a wonderful library and reading room.
