I was in Victoria for less than 24hrs to catch an early morning ferry from the harbour. I chose this hotel for the price and proximity to downtown. With other comparably priced options in the same area I would never choose to stay here again. It is a tired building with very worn, outdated furniture, stained bedding and linens. Everything... I pity the the front desk clerk who was polite but incompetent or untrained cause he has to go back. Our rooms had no towels, where not well made up and smelled of smoke. Beds were lousy. One room had crack between wall and air conditioner fixed (?) with packing tape. The lasting reminder was itchy feet from the athlete's... More

If I could rate this as a minus 5, I would. Smoke detector was beeping upon arrival so whole unit was taken out and not replaced. Window wouldn't open and air conditioner not cooling. Every time a bus or truck went by the whole room shook. Very hard to get clean towels and enough of them . Had to ask... More

There were bugs in our room. The legs on our bed were broken so it tilted. The lamp was broken so it didn't work. It was not at all clean. The bathroom was disgusting. We had to ask for a blanket since our bed didn't have one. The boys at the front desk, however, were very polite. It would be... More

Despite the mixed reviews of others, we didn't have a bad experience. It's not 5 star, but doesn't claim to be. It was great for the price. The room was clean, the king bed comfortable. Everything worked. The front desk was helpful. The wi-fi was free and reliable. It was a short walk to shops, restaurants and downtown area. Yes,... More

Upon check in, you're made to sign a waiver stating you won't smoke in the hotel, yet the room reeked of smoke and had numerous burn holes in the bedding. The bed was horrible and seemed many years old. I would definitely look for a different place next time I visit the city.

We just needed a bed for 8 hours until the early ferry. This place was economic (~$100) so we took it sight unseen while transiting to Victoria from Sea Kayaking up in the Broken Islands. The bed was the best part. Clean, firm with good pillows. The A/C didn't work and the front desk was clueless as to how to... More

Great location and friendly front desk people. But the microwave in the room didn't work, and the hairdryer burnt out, we got another after two requests. We were awoken at 5.00am by the front door man entering our room, never did find out why that happened. The other thing was that our rubbish wasn't emptied for 3 days and we... More

As many of the other reviews have horror stories-- I believe everything everyone has to say. We stayed for a few nights at this location and decided to cancel our last few nights Lacks service. When you leave for the day and come back to an unmade bed, beer bottles still in your room that were near the door, counters... More

Good: The location - about 1 km from Victoria's inner harbour. Parking is close to the entrance. Liked the king size beds with good mattresses. Room has a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Good wifi. The staff at the front desk is friendly and very helpful. The room rates are competitive. Not so good: The overall cleanliness leaves a bit... More
