When we first saw the outside of the Queen Victoria, I was disappointed - it looked like any other large chain hotel, and with the name "Queen Victoria," I expected more. Walking into the lobby, however, I was impressed with the decor and assumed they had made the most of a boring exterior by sprucing up the inside. This impression... more

The hotel was nice enough - as many have said on this thread -you get what you pay for but it is certainly nice enough if you are out and about enjoying the city. My qualms with the hotel though are two...and both of these 'beefs' relate to travelling with children 1.) The patio railings are simply hazardous - we... more

We had just entered Victoria late at night, and we passed this nice looking hotel, decided to give it a try, as it was close to where we wanted to explore the next day. Gorgeous lobby. When we asked if they had any rooms available, the front desk staff showed us a picture and tried their best to sell it... more

We went to Victoria for a mid-winter break. After leaving our initial accommodation (it was awful), we went to the Tourism Centre and told them our requirements (room for two adults and one almost-three year old, cable, wireless, parking, pool, downtown location, and sub-$100) - they gave us three recommendations, of which we selected Queen Victoria. What a great choice.... more

After abandoning one of Victoria's highest rated but most disappointing hotels, I chose the Queen Victoria based on overall balance of reviews on Trip Advisor, it's convenient location and our ability to visit the hotel prior to committing, being already in the City. Reviews of this hotel on Trip Advisor were almost flat across the board with little trend towards... more

The hotel is central to everything in downtown Victoria and has been newly renovated. The lobby has a nice warm fireplace with comfy couches and I sat and read by the fire each night (while my 2 15-year-old girls took over our room). The hot tub and pool area, with showers and sauna, were spotless and also newly renovated. The... more

Stayed in their really nice two-bedroom suite in 2006....but had VEEERRRRY weak, if any, connectivity to their Wi-Fi. Still, though, a smoking room and a fireplace.........I ignored the serious connecvtivity issues. Fast Forward to November 2008......booked a base room through Hotwire for $62 a night. Guess what? ZERO smoking rooms, not EVEN allowed to smoke on THE BALCONY OUTSIDE THE... more

Don't go if you don't have to!!! The beds were so uncomfertable - was like sleeping on cement. Requested a king bed, was told upon check-in none available and got a queen. Walls were thin - could hear the large party happening next door - called down and nothing was done about it. For what you pay one would think... more
