Although the Empress is a grand and beautiful hotel, you can do better as far as accomodations go; the rooms are small and the service is average. The only thing about this place I will recommend is the Bengal Lounge for their curry buffet - it's the BEST! more

Who knows why you're in Victoria? We had originally planned a 10 day road trip starting in San Francisco, but ended up flying into Seattle, skipping Vancouver entirely, and taking the Clipper straightaway from Pier... 39? on Canada's National Day. Whoo hoo! It was almost entirely arranged by the VIctoria Clipper booking agents; they MUST have a stranglehold on Victoria... more

We loved it here & could have stayed longer. We got an excellent price through Clipper Vacations for a Gold Room and it had everything we wanted except a view of the harbour which was quite a bit extra & we didn't think it was worth it.. The lounge & lounge staff were lovely - We could enjoy the view... more

Having traveled to Victoria BC years ago I wanted to be certain to stay at the Empress Hotel. The dining rooms, lobbies, and shops all seemed so grand and the decor was very Victorian - lots of carved wood, paintings, beautiful rugs, and flowers abound. We traveled up with a family member and our three 1/2 year old daughter. We... more

The empress is impressive and majestic. My sister and I were fortunate enough to stay on a Wed Evening in a corner room with a view of the harbor and were just blown away by it. The beds were ultra comfy, they still have Miller Harris toiletries, and the staff was very pleasant. I used the indoor, heated pool for... more

Sailed up to visit the Grand Dame of Victoria. It did not disappoint. High tea is unparalleled. Visit to the Bouchart Gardens. What more could one ask for ? My 80 year old mother was thrilled! more

Very nice, but not ostentatious. Great staff. Certainly not cutting edge (very slow internet), but an excellent place from which to explore Victoria from. We visit Vancouver every year but have been missing out on Victoria. We'll add it for a great 3 day weekend from Seattle, using the Clipper to scoot up on the water. The hotel is just... more

Hubby and I stayed here 2 nights after I read about one of their specials and got a king delux room for $131 CD plus tax and $28 pd parking. I was smart enough to join their presidents club (which is free) and this gives you free local phone service, free wifi, 2 different newpapers each morning, and a seperate... more

This was my first time actually staying at the Empress. I loved it! Its such a well preserved hotel. Very charming and historical. We walked through most of it including the Empress Archives. The room was small and I missed having a closet to hang things in but the high ceilings and ambience made up for that. It felt large.... more
