My only regret is that it took me so many years to "discover" the Surf Motel. I've stayed at all the name hotels in Victoria over the years, and yes, they're fine. But nothing beats the Surf. The location is great -- right on the water; a bus route to Fisherman's Wharf in one direction and downtown in the other;... More

My wife and I have stayed at the Surf Motel a number of times, and it has always been an enjoyable experience. From the " retro" decor to watching the cruise ships dock it feels like old time Victoria before the condo onslaught began. The sounds and smell of the ocean just across the road beckon one to get outdoors and explore,... My husband and I stayed at the Surf in August and our stay was wonderful right from the moment we arrived. The building is older and I passed it up on an earlier trip to Victoria based on the exterior, but that was my loss because this motel is a little treasure. Every room faces the water and the view... My mom and I recently stayed at the Surf Motel for one night and we enjoyed every minute of it. From the outside, the place may not look very glamorous but I can guarantee you that it is one of the best places to stay in Victoria with incredible views, a beautiful oceanside path right out the door, and great... We stayed in Surf Motel for 4 nights in August, and have an interesting story to tell everyone. We (family of 5) booked a condo with another rental company, and I was instructed to pick up the keys from Sam who works in Breakwater Cafe nearby. We immediately regretted booking the reservation after we opened the door and looked around,... More

Although this is an older building, it has been restored nicely and the rooms were clean and comfortable. the view and location is spectacular. we would highly recommend this motel and stay here again in the future. a real gem and the price was really reasonable for downtown Victoria. it's within walking distance to the parliament buildings, inner harbour and... When we pulled up outside the Surf Motel I thought 'OMG', what have we done here! A 1960's building on a busy road. Then you walk inside and sure enough it was a left over from the 60's. In truth, it was brilliant to find somewhere real retro with features kept in situ since the family bought the property in... More

This Motel isn't in the heart of the tourist attractions, but it's a 5 minute drive and well worth the stay. Every room has windows from floor to ceiling with a magnificent view of the water and snow-capped mountains of Washington State. Throw in a kitchen and supplies, free parking and wi-fi and a great restaurant in walking distance (opened... More

The Surf Motel sits across the street from the Juan de Fuca Strait and overlooks the iconic Ogden Point Breakwater. Every room faces the water. Our room was on the third floor (top floor) and we spent several warm evenings enjoying apres-dive drinks on our sunny deck. The room was clean and bright, the kitchen appliances (stove, oven, fridge) worked... More

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Waking up to the view of the Strait is awesome. I have stayed here in the past and the hotel could have used some updating. This has been done. The room was recently renovation in a retro theme. The room was big and comfy with a full kitchen and amenities, the... More
