We stayed at this B&B for several nights and used it as our base for tours in and around Vancouver. Near parks and restaurants, with a range of cuisines. Laundromat a short distance away and public transport available if you want it. Parking was in the street but we had no problems. Swapping stories with the Irish was a bonus.

Helen is a delightful hostess, with a spirited personality. She only rents out two rooms, normally for a minimum of two nights each. The whole house is quite nicely maintained. The breakfast area is very pleasant, and it leads to a lovely, little back yard. The house is set on a quiet side street (19th Ave). It's only a 10-minute... More

Helen, owner and operator is a gem! Very comfortable and enjoyed our chats during our 2 night stay. Wonderful garden area outside and and livingroom inside. AC in the Garden room but still can be warm if you like a cool room during sleep. WiFi is very fast and actually works, no need to bring your own data like so... More

I stayed here for a week and the owner Helen was friendly without being intrusive. The rooms are well appointed and each have their own bathrooms. Very clean and comfortable. I was able to choose my own breakfast, cooked or not and always a big pot of coffee for me. I was also able to make use of her deck... More

My wife and I are frequent visitors to Vancouver, but hadn't stayed here until recently, when we had four nights at the end of September. We shall certainly try to stay here on our next visit. Very clean place, excellent food, reasonably priced, very friendly. Good for getting down to Broadway and Cambie for meals, not that far to the... More

We had a fantastic stay at the guest house, Helen was a brilliant host. The Garden room was clean, great decor and very comfortable. Location was well placed, out of the city but in easy reach either via the bus just around the corner or the train straight downtown. The breakfasts were amazing, everything we would hope for and Helen... More

Great location, easily accessible to Vancouver attractions, without being in the centre of town. Particularly well located for shabbat observers. Decor is "auld Dublin". Room was very comfortable and extremely clean. Breakfast was perfect and beautifully served. The highlight is the owner, Helen Carton, who made us feel welcome and relaxed in her lovely home.

This is one if the best little B&B's I've ever stayed at. There are only two guest bedrooms so it's nice and private. It's an old heritage home very close to VGH & BCCH and the owners keep it immaculate. The bed was very welcoming and the private bathroom is perfect. Breakfast was amazing. Eggs, mushrooms, hashbrowns,English muffins, toast, fresh fruit salad,yogurt,... More

I stayed for an evening recently. Leaving the airport, it was a quick sky train to City Hall and a brief bus ride on the #17. Upon arriving earlier than the expected check in time, Helen the owner graciously welcomed me in to my beautifully appointed room in a lovely older character home. I stayed in the Blue room and... This is not a B & B like some with an absent owner or a manager, the owner lives there and it has just 2 bedrooms, we had the garden room, stayed 6 nights and found Helen very helpful. She offered to do some washing for us and gave us directions to a Laundromat within walking distance for our heavier... More

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighborhood Profile
Shaughnessy
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
