Unfortunately downtown Vancouver is not a friendly place to stay for backpackers as everywhere is so expensive! My partner and I were very disappointed when staying here. The only pros that I can think of is the location. It's right in Gastown and good distance to transport. The cons is a long list- Price - over $30 each for a... More

This hostel is quite accessible by sky train from the airport and is in the heart of the Downtown. The Big bus ,hop on hop off tours start from near this hostel. Basically this is a very old hostel mostly visited bu students. The toilets are poorly maintained .The hostel is attached to a pub and there is a lot of noise.

I will never stay here again. It's 1.30AM and the relentless doof from the music downstairs is vibrating my bed. The people in the pub are rowdy and when someone walks / runs down the corridor, the floor shakes. It doesn't feel like a stable building. I feel like there's a massive party all around and I can't shut it... More

We had a double room which was on the second floor and proved very spartan. No cooking facilities on the floor. The shower was fine if you like showering in a broom cupboard - hardly enough room to turn around and no place to hang clothes, towel, etc. Whilst well located, you have to expect it to be noisy and... We arrived at the hostel around 12am. The unfriendly receptionist said we had to wait until 2 pm before we could check in. No problem, we went to eat something at the pub nextdoor. When we came back to check in at 2 pm there were a lot of people already waiting. Then she started to check in and when... More

Coming from New Zealand hostels have always seemed fine to me, I've had some great experiences at some and it is a great way to meet new people. This hostel, not so much. This was in a league of it's own. When I first arrived the staff were swapping shifts and so service was incredibly slow. I was then given... More

When I first moved to Canada I stayed at the Cambie Hostel. We got in at 11pm and it was a Friday so we went downstairs into the pub for a drink and I had fun! Look it's a dive I'm not gunna lie but I've made some life long friends from staying there and drinking down stairs. The staff... More

That was one of the worst experiences as a traveler in a hostel. I was at the bar to socialize with other backpackers. At first they’d cheated me at the bar with a price for a beer, which was announced much lower. I was sitting alone for a while and the doorman was always looking very bad to me. After... More

I tried this hostel out for 1 night and it was horrible! The dorm rooms are small with 2 bunk beds and a table and chair and old rotting floors. The room was above the bar and it was really noisy until 5am! There was no heat in the room either and the staff did nothing about it. In the... More
