Location .. Check Basic amenities .. Check What is that odd smell .. Check Why is the WiFi so bad at a world class university .. Check The West Coast Suites are in arguably one of the most beautiful places on earth. We are here for a stay action whilst some work is being done on our home in Vancouver.... More

We have stayed here a number of times when visiting our daughter at UBC, and it is always reliable and comfortable. It is well equipped with a bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette / sitting room. The bed is large and comfortable and there is plenty of storage space; there is a separate sofa bed in the main area. The kitchen has... More

We stay here every other weekend while watching our daughter play hockey. Roomy suites with a functional kitchenette. Bed is very comfortable and the living room is great for visiting in. Close to all amenities at UBC including public transportation and taxis. It's a long way to the nearest hotel off campus.

I was feeling very calm like I was at home. It was at first uncomfortable in that I was in a foreign world, but later I started to develop new adjustments and nounces to live a better life. People were benign to each other and they said hello to me. It was a very solidifying experience in that I was... More

Very comfortable beds and rooms. Especially the beds and comforters. Appliances work great, supplied utensils also. Good place to stay. Good value for the money. Buses right across the lot if needed. Should be a bit careful in room selection in the summer as I don't see any air conditioning. Better to be on the north side of the building.

My daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights in Oct while she was checking out UBC as a possible University to attend in the fall of 2015. I will admit that the location (staying on campus) was good to allow us to quickly get around campus, try out the dining options, attend a tour, and walk to Wreck Beach.... More

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear that the noise from the residences nearby caused problems for your stay. We do have rooms facing the east side that are away from potential traffic or people noise as mentioned in your review. We have scheduled renovations and furniture upgrades in the spring. With the upgrade, we are hoping... More

We have stayed in the West Coast Suites twice, both times because I had surgery at UBC hospital. This is not a 5-Star Hotel, but the suites are large, the beds comfortable, the kitchen more than adequate for a 5-7 day stay and the walk to the hospital was only 10 minutes. We also had great success using the Vancouver... More

My wife and I reserved a room here for four nights for late last week. It was convenient for her as I was scheduled for surgery and a three day stay at UBC Hospital. The hospital is a short walk away. But two hours after check in I saw a quick moving bug on the floor. Within the hour we... More

Stayed here while taking in a conference at UBC and overall disappointed with the experience. Pros: - clearly if you have business at the University Is the location is good. As there are no real other hotel options nearby - having a kitchen unit was convenient ( having said that the kitchen faucet was not working properly) - kitchen is... More

Where to begin? At almost $200 a night (inc taxes, parking), the West Coast Suites provide a unique "now I remember how much I hated living in a dorm" experience...particularly if you need to have windows open (no air conditioning). I did stay here once in the winter, and it was less horrible. DO NOT get a room facing the... More
