Wish hotels would place blowdryers outside of bathroom. Room was clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lots of noise from people outside the hotel. The price was excellent for a stay in Van. Would stay again. Excellent location-public trans. shopping, eateries, sights.

My first 5 nights at this hotel were generally pleasant, the room was small but comfortable. Housekeeping did not service the room 2 of those days though. The last night, there was a nightclub operating on the ground floor, the noise and vibrations coming from the nightclub were excessive, causing me to have to move rooms at 12.30am, which is... More

The decor is outdated, the elevator is barely big enough for 2 people with small suitcases, the 3rd floor smells like kitty litter, the rooms are so small you can barely walk around, and there was food ground into the carpet that had been there awhile!! Spend a few dollars more and stay elsewhere

When you go to Canada, you think everyone is going to be nice. Well, everyone was. Except for the employees that worked here. Came out here to dj, got back late and then was woken up as our room was right next to the busy elevator. The water got backed up in the sink and tub, the room was gross... More

The room was small but adequate for two, very clean with tea/coffee making facilities and good TV reception with many channels to choose from. Free wifi which was strong and constant. The hotel was centrally located downtown close to the subway/Yale & Roundhouse. The buses (4 & 14 in particular) stopped right outside the door. The staff were very helpful... More

I can always know that when staying at the Howard Johnson I am greeted with their friendly staff. The hotel is always clean and it is a all around welcoming feel. It's not some modern hotel, it is "antique" but updated where it matters. Love staying there!!!!

everybody was very pleasant and welcoming. Had time to explain to us where to go and what to see. Rooms although small, were very clean. Parking charge $ 20 was reasonable. My friends stayed here before and highly recommended the hotel. Great choice

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
