Don't be tempted by the ideal location, this place is filthy. From the streetside it appears to be a well presented if older three storey hotel but inside the stale smell, dirty (very) carpets and kitchen areas make the stay unpleasant. Don't get me wrong, I like basic but I will not be back here. - very very poor more

Bring several cleaning supplies. The room was very musty smelling and the walls needed to be cleaned. It was close to everything exciting so I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Our apartment at the Oceanside hotel was clean and spacious. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. But the best thing about the Oceanside hotel is it's location! Denman street with lots of restaurants is around the corner, also English Bay and Stanley Park ... and downtown isn't far either. The hotel really is a great bargain, I guess... more

It is hard to find budget lodging in Vancouver, so perhaps the comparison is a bit unfair. The Oceanside is an older property (1960's) in Vancouver's West End that is not aging gracefully. Don't judge a book by its cover! The Oceanside is an apartment building that has been converted to an "all suite" hotel. The accomodations are solid, but not luxurious. The suite was good. Plenty of space. All the necessities. There was parking underneath the building which helped since the neighborhood is pretty crowded. We liked it and the price was right. more
