Myself and my friend stayed here for 17 nights while we were in Vancouver and we found it great. Beacuase we were there before April we got the 7 nights for 6 deal, so our private room worked out about $6 more expensive than a quad, so we were well happy!! The facilities were great, we had a sink in... more

I really liked my stay here. Reading the other reviews, I think some people are getting this hostel mixed up with the HI Vancouver Central one - at the downtown hostel, there is no mouse problem, and there is no noise problem (as far as I'm aware). However I heard complaints about both of these issues from people staying at... more

I found this to be an excellent hostel, with plenty of leaflets and information on Vancouver and the surrounding areas. The location was great for the city center, close to English Bay with a nice beach and near the impressive Stanley Park. There are many restaurants and coffee shops close by, however the hostel breakfast is excellent and free. Close... more

Good hostel in general, great free breakfast in am. Great location. However, very noisy, despite closing window we could still hear everything out side AND everything that was going on next door until all hours of the night. We had a private room and the noise level of the rest of the hotel was unbearable. Might was well sleep in... more

I was there for meetings with work for the week and then decided to stay for a 3 night weekend to tour the city- the accomodation here was better then my hotel!!! Check in - staff were friendly and great! There was one agent the 2nd day that spoke in one word sentences (was like pulling teeth when asking simoke... more

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! Most people find that when they stay at hostels more they get more used to the sound of others in their room - and we've always got free earplugs at the desk if that will help! As far as the snippy desk clerk goes, if you had a moment to contact me at the...

Great location near Davie Street bars and restaurants is definitely a drawcard (as is the free breakfast). However, I found the staff to be indifferent at best, and the private room was overpriced for what it is. My room was freezing - so cold I couldn't sleep as there was no temperature control, the shared bathrooms were not really in... more

The best thing about this hostel is its location. It is in a very convenient neighborhood to see all of the city's sights without driving and very safe! If you just need a bunk bed to crash on, this hostel will work for you. Its cheap, safe, and convenient. The private rooms are way overpriced. You should go somewhere else... more

I've stayed in many hostels over the years and, while not as breathtaking as some of the hostels in Europe, the Vancounver Downtown hostel is a pretty good deal. It is located in Davie Village and about a block up from Davie Street, which is lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants galore. It is a 10-minute cab ride from the... more

I would reccommend this hostel to anyone who doesnt want to go out and get drunk every night. The other hostels in Vancouver, from my experience, seemed to be in noisy, less desirable areas (except for Jericho beach which is miles away from anything). This hostel is in a great location - its easy to walk to all the big... more

This hostel has a mouse problem. We are awoken at 3 am and I had to go to reception to request a new room. I had to ask several times to get a refund for that night-the staff were very unwilling to do this, and said that they have been having a 'mouse problem' lately and blamed this on the... more
