I stayed here a couple of summer's ago and I was reminiscing about this lovely hotel which prompted me to come back to write a review. We loved the hotel's look and feel. Really charming! And in a great location too. Our room wasn't ready at check-in time so the lady at the front gave us an upgrade. And she... More

Old but spacious suite. Lots of windows that open. View of English Bay. Great Lounge and live music. Attentive staff and friendly atmosphere. Easy parking. Wonderful access to the beach and seawall path that goes around Stanley Park as well.

Yes we are a pet friendly Hotel, in fact we were the first in Vancouver and still the only hotel that does not charge extra for pets. Located on beautiful English Bay and on the Seawall walk to Stanley Park, this place is in an absolute perfect location just out of the CBD. I would not recommend staying here if you want ultra modern luxury as the Sylvia Hotel is a step back in time and I say that in a good way as it has kept... More

I will pass along your comments to the housekeeping department. We hope that you will return again soon and when you do always... More

We stayed 3 nights, in old but spacious rooms with character, including to the well appointed though small bathroom. The lobby and bar were pleasant, the service attentive. The location is good and the views from our room were good.

Thank-you for staying with us from Iceland. I read in your review that you enjoyed the service and room during your stay. Our location is great but I think that our guests appreciate the great service we offer and the views from the restaurant and lounge. I hope I can visit Iceland one day and that you will return to... We can't say enough about this hotel. A historic building across the street from the beach on English Bay. Our room was large and spacious including a living area, wifi, king sized bed, desk, decent sized closet and a washroom off the hallway entering the room. Checking in went quickly and we were reminded to leave the key (yes, key)... More

The Sylvia serves a full size pot of orange pekoe tea! How's that for starters? Order your tea as soon as your eyes open, ask them to deliver a paper with it. Throw in a croissant or two, or brekky and laz awhile before you peep out your window because when you do, you're drawn out to the happening scene... More

Thank-you for staying with us and using room service to add to your stay. The location is great as you are so close to everything, however if you do not want to venture out into the city you can always order room service or come down to the lounge and restaurant to watch the people walk by. I hope you... More

We have admired this hotel from the outside for many years, especially when walking around English Bay. We often remarked about it's ideal location and envied the people sitting in the restaurant with such an incredible view. My wife treated me to a stay after taking in a play downtown and all of my expectations were met. The hotel has... More

A quite, heritage listed hotel where our friends who live on Vancouver Island stay when in Vancouver with most guests of the 50 - 70 age group. We spent five nights in room 701 and because it was the shoulder season got very good rates. Upgraded to an old style, but spacious suite for extra $15 per night. Bedroom very... More

I do not recommend staying at the Sylvia Hotel in Vancouver, unless you want to fall in love. Be cautious when someone sits near you and orders a glass of wine. If it is nearing the end of winter and hope is in the grass, already green, flower boxes in windows, freshly painted, cherry blossoms softly stir, you may find... More

Very well written review, I was a little worried about reading your review with the title "warning" however I enjoyed the poetic way you wrote your comments about your experience. My wife and I stayed here 30 years ago while we were courting. Now, freshly retired and still married, we have returned for a "nostalgia trip". We are pleased to find the Sylvia better than ever.... great staff, renovated rooms, good wi-fi and still the best location in this lovely city. It's an historic hotel, which explains some of the... Welcome back after all those years and congratulations on your long marriage. Thank-you for the review in terms of a favorite sweater. I have not heard us described that why before but like it.
