We were recommended to the Sylvia by friends and wow did they do us a favour! Arrival was smooth and efficiently handled and we were shown to the most wonderful view in all of Vancouver. Our room overlooked the bay and had a total of 6 windows and each of them had a view. If only they had a revolving... more

We expected rustic not luxurious. We expected windows with natural light and great views, not contemporary coverings. We expected a bar/lounge where we could drink, relax and look out at English Bay, not big screen tvs and 5-star foods. We expected the kitchen to have everything we'd need, and didn't think twice about the formica countertops. We most enjoyed the... more

We have been going to the Syliva for that last 12 years - we always go at the start of our Candadian trip and the end - great for winding down from work and long flight before heading out on our adventures. We love the whole set up - its like home from home - staff have come and gone... more

This hotel is in an excellent position looking out over English Bay. We had excellent weather with a sunset so the view was great. Shops and restaurants are minutes away. Our room was not much biger than the bed and two people would never get in the bathroom, and only a midget would fit in the bath. We were there... more

The Sylvia was a wonderful place to stay. The rooms were a bit basic but BIG and we had a second small room with a bed! That was perfect when a friend needed to stay with us for a night. The restaurant was lovely, they allow dogs and the location is very convenient to many other areas. And the price,... more

We started staying at the Sylvia 3 years ago. Each time we have had a different room, and they really were different. None of those cookie-cutter rooms that all look the same. Yes, some of the decor could use a little updating, but it is being slowing improved. The staff are great and very accomodating throughout the hotel. The restaurant... more

We were a group of two couples who traveled to Vancouver BC to see the sights. Pros: The Sylvia Hotel was easy to find and check in was a breeze. The lobby was very warm and inviting. Parking in the attached garage is $10 CDN per night, which we thought was a great deal. Our "Large 2 Queen Room" was... more

Stayed at The Sylvia for four nights on either side of a ski trip to Whistler. Had a family room with two bedrooms-furniture was a bit basic, but comfortable and large. Bathroom was on the tiny size-but on our return stay we had identical rooms two floors down and this room was much smarter with a larger bathroom. I think... more

Stayed here over Christmas 2008. Hotel is located direct on English Bay. It is in easy strolling distance of Stanley Park and the Non Chain retaurants and stores on Denman St. The hotel is old. This adds to its charm. Rooms are basic but have everything you need, except coffee. Coffee is available from the restaurant or the numerous coffee... more

Stayed here over New Year as my sister was getting married there. The best point about this hotel is the location - right next to Stanley Park and Denman Street; the views over English Bay are breath-taking. Vancouver city centre is pretty small so we were able to walk everywhere. The food and the drinks were pretty good although on... more
