Well my original review was rejected by tripadvisor (fair enough) so I'll try to mellow it out a bit. The hotel's neighborhood (Hastings and Main) is notorious for certain illegal activities. These activities occur frequently in and around this hotel. I greatly feared for my safety in and around this hotel. The manager is, shall I say, tightly wound. The... more

When I read the review below titled "Too Paranoid", I thought someone had gotten there on a really bad day. Well that reviewers experience became my own. I'd booked this hotel six weeks in advance. I went to the hotel a day early to check it out and see if I could check in earlier than their normal time, and... more

They cheat customers. They did not refund my security deposit (half month). I contacted them many times and insisted on refunding me the security deposit but they did not hear, just ignored me. If you stay at this hotel (looks reasonable) but you will loose much more later. more

I contacted them by email before arriving in Vancouver. Their reply was reassuring. It sounded like a safe and nice place in a bad neighbourhood. I went to have a look and we agreed I would rent a room for a few months while studying in Vancouver. I would come by with my luggage and they would hold the room... more

East Hastings is a problematic neighbouhood brimming with junkies, bums and creatures that seem right out of a 'Resident Evil' movie. But once you're inside the hotel, you will find that the staff is very friendly and that the place is very clean. The washrooms and the showers are cleaned several times a day. For a student or budget traveler,... more

it's in a notorious neighborhood, but the hotel itself is very clean, safe, quiet, and well-kept. The staff are very kind and helpful. more

This place is right in the middle of skid row in Vancouver's notorious Downtown Eastside. It is full of bums and druggies. It is not really a hotel. It is a building for low-income or no-income people. A real dive and not a place a human being should ever be found. more
