After a lot of research for hotels in Vancouver I selected the Riviera. The Hotel was as I expected. It is somewhat dated and could stand with a facelift, but it was clean and very acceptable. The rooms we had were both 1 bedroom suites with a kitchen and separte bedroom. The kitchens were adequately equipped and the bedrooms were... more

We stayed at Riviera Hotel for 2 nights in mid September. Since it was our first time in Canada, I mailed the hotel directly to ask for directions to the hotel from the Amtrak train station- the Pacific Central Station. And, I got no replies. I managed to get there, luckily, hopping on the Bus #5, which dropped us off,... more

Stayed here in early August after recommendations from a friend who lives in Vancouver (and is a Lonely Planet author as well) and was very impressed with it. It's in an excellent location on Robson Street, the centre of Vancouver is around a 10 minute walk away, as is the beach. It's also opposite a bus-stop for the Airporter service... more

We had no idea about the condition of this place, and it was paid for by a relative who said he had stayed there some time ago, which was probably in the 70's. The location was the only good point, as we could walk to many of Vancouver's wonderful sites. The minuses have been pointed out by other reviewers, the... more

Stayed here in May and had really great weather for 4 days..temps in the mid 70's or 24 Celsius....that brought about the only problem we had with the hotel...noise from the outside. As the hotel has no air conditioning and the windows are not double paned, we had to leave the windows open. It took quite a while 'til things... more

The Riviera Hotel is in a cluster of budget hotels at the end of the renowned shopping on Robson Street. It is very well sited. The Riviera is a fairly small hotel, having 11 floors of rooms. Each floor has 4 rooms, each comprising a corner. You have an expansive view in one direction, and in the other a smaller... more

let me start with the ouside of the hotel, it looks like its going to fall down any day. The inside just got worse! The carpets were disgustingly dirty and the walls and lamps had stains all over them. The noise was horrible young kids were having a party across the hall and kept us up all night. The shower... more

We booked this hotel for May long weekend and had a good time. We got a harbor view room with kitchen. The whole expanse of room in 6th floor was with glass on one side , so view was good. The Hotel does not look posh from outisde and is right on Robson st but is decent PROS- large room... more

Centrally located in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Robson Street, this serene tower offers you a lot more than it's first glance. Its initial lobby is quaint, but comfortable. We sat and watched the TV for about an hour. The elevator is small, but an excellent entrance for the main attraction -- the room. Our room was... more

The hotel offers a choice of either a king-sized bed in a suite or a room with two queen-sized beds. I reserved a suite in advance. When we arrived, the man and woman behind the desk sized us up (Queers!) and offered us a room with two beds. I said no thank you. He and his wife had a discussion... more
