We decided to do a last minute weekend getaway to Vancouver and booked a room at the Douglas House while driving towards the border. After booking the room I looked at the check-in hours and realized we would not be there in time. So I called the number and was able to arrange to pick up the room key and... More

I've stayed at Douglas & its other B&B accommodations. Nice. Just across the Cambie Bridge from downtown. Decent hot breakfast. There is off street parking which is great. One thing that would be nice to see is some better than basic shower heads!!

Once we arrived at the bed and breakfast as they call it, they had my reservation wrong stating that I had a shared bathroom. But they changed it for us with very little problems, the rooms were nice but the bed was hard as a rock, the food its self was very limited on what you could get. But the... More

Stayed for four nights in verandah room. Room broadsides a laneway to next property which had security lights on all night which made sleep virtually impossible. Complained to management next morning who promptly went out and bought dark drapes to fix the problem..... thanks for your prompt action Paul but had to feel sorry for prior occupants to us. Mattress... More

This was our base in Vancouver, on two occasions. We had the basement apartments B on the first stopover and A on the second, both were clean spacious and comfortable, although the kitchens in both were limited in their appliances and cooking implements. The owners are not on site, so this is not a traditional b&b in the English sense,... More

The Guest House was in a lovely quiet residential area but with excellent transport and easy walking to the main Vancouver areas. Restaurants and shops just on the corner. It has the added bonus of guest parking, as costs are quote substantial in Vancouver, Beautiful character building and very good value for the money. We had the Penthouse with its... More

This was a good place to stay and catch our breath after a long flight from Australia. It was comfortable and quiet with a great breakfast. The other essentials are good pillows and a good shower. It is an easy walk to the train station as well as the river and access to Granville Island.

The owners have 3 B&Bs so perhaps they are stretched too thin. No one was there when we arrived; we found our room key and instructions in an envelope. The room was in the basement. It was adequate but had no charm whatsoever. When we arrived for breakfast, the coffee and fruit was self-serve. There was a list of items... More

Had the "ground floor" room slightly below grade level. No staff on arrival but an envelope with keys and instructions to enter at rear of property were provided. The instructions included The Wi-Fi server and password. Unfortunately we could not connect so had no Wifi throughout the stay. Next morning the staff said it was a known problem and the owners... More

This bed and breakfast is better than we expected. The breakfast is freshly prepared with a choice of delicious options. It is in a quiet, leafy street but only two blocks walk to the train, shops and restaurants. Staff were efficient and friendly.

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighborhood Profile
Shaughnessy
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
