I spent 6 months here and felt right at home. The owners are accommodating and friendly and attentive. I stayed in two of the fully furnished apartments complete with dishwashers. Comfortable, quiet and clean to say the least. The rooms were stylishly finished, the beds comfortable and the apts. spacious. Highly recommend the Black Rooster! Nice change from hotels! What... Great, clean, spacious budget accommodation. Fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer (free laundry soap), helpful staff. Stayed here twice - five nights total. Staff recommendations for restaurants were perfect. Walk to town is very doable. Great computer and wifi access in shared space.

I will definitely stay here again. The staff is super helpful and everyone I encountered from the reception to the girl painting the hallway was polite and kind. I came with my large truck and a trailer to park, and two men came out immediately to assist me in putting the trailer in a good spot in their parking lot.... More

Stayed in a queen room, private bath. Awesome facilities, picked us up at the train. Had full use of the kitchen, felt safe, apparent the owners/caretakers genuinely care about the location. Myself and two daughters, leisure trip, will stay again.

We were very pleased with the Black Rooster: the room was clean, our beds were comfortable, the staff responsive to need, and the kitchen facilities (and rules for using the fridge) made it convenient and saved us restaurant costs. The lounge has very comfortable leather sofas and contemporary decor and the kitchen has a table and chairs at either end,... More

Very clean apartmant, comfortable, walking distance to downtown and shops. Quite area. We had to shorten our stay here due to ferry timetable and availability( catching BC ferry to port hardy) after we checked in and paid, and owners were aggreable to give us a refund which was a pleasant suprise. I would stay here again

Stayed here in August 2013 in room #1 and liked the whole atmosphere. The property showed pride of ownership and a good taste in decorating. If your sick of the whole cockie cutter hotel room experience this is the place to go. A neat "help yourself kitchen", bar-b-que, landry with complimentary soap and free shuttle service from the train station... More

We were picked up from the ferry as promised and on time. The apartment was great. Good kitchen well organized and fully equipped, but with nowhere to properly sit and eat. Other part of the family was in a family room, which was very very basic but good value for money.
