The shower could not be used because a piece of the fitting was missing, I got a glass out of the cupboard and it was stuck to the shelf, not sure when it was last cleaned for it to be sticking. We could not turn the TV off because the remote was rubbish so had to pull the plug out of the wall. Hole in the bed sheet and all night long we could hear the internal plumbing. The hall way has recently been painted but they should have spent the money on the rooms first. Had a guy come to our room at 8.30 in the evening asking if we needed any toiletries, all very odd. Staff on reception helpful enough.

The experience was not horrible but also not overwhelmingly pleasant. Staff: Very friendly and as helpful as management allows them to be (4.5/5) Cleanliness. See pictures. I'm NOT a clean freak, but this was a bit too much, especially for this HIGH PRICE ! The hallway and the room smelled musty. Overall. Having no air conditioning in the rooms is a PROBLEM.... it gets warm and STUFFY. Not allowing smoking on the balconies will please some picky guests but will really annoy regular guests, especially when the elevator is out of service for many hours as happened when I was staying here. Overall: Next time I'll be staying somewhere else. But thank you to all the VERY nice & helpful receptionists !

We took our boat up to Desolation Sound and stayed at marinas throughout the gulf islands and BC. This was by far the worst. First of all- Nanaimo has a theft issue and the “secure” gate for this marina was left open multiple times a day, we saw by people using the charter fishing service that runs out of this marina. DO NOT take them up on their offer to help with the lines. The guy has no idea what he is doing and I witnessed him allow 3 boats (including ours) to smash the bow into the dock. When I called and asked how far to the shops and such, they told me a 10 minute walk. It is actually a 35-40 minute walk so we ended up having to rent a car to restock and then they didn’t want to let us park it in the hotel lot that was empty. They have two bathrooms available for the entire marina population and one washer and dryer. The theft problem is so bad here they actually have you lock the laundry room door while your laundry is in there. We ended up driving our laundry to a laundromat and having it done for us. Although this marina is brand new, the only new part is the dock itself. The bathroom/ showers were mostly clean but the box to put in more loonies for the shower is OUTSIDE in the hall so there is no adding more loonies if you are still soapy. Port of Nanaimo is a much better choice.…

I arrived 06/06/18 after booking with booking.com online had to pay a $200 deposit on credit card plus my 148.50 which came to 348.50, I said i was going to pay in cash..they said the card deposits etc would be canceled when I check out etc...that was fine...they gave us room 212, upon entry to room I noticed there was dust everywhere on tables, floor kitchen area, and bathroom, including beds! so i went down and told them and within 10 mins they had sent up a maid to lightly clean over everything....this was unacceptable in my books..if you are going to rent out a room..make sure beforehand and inspect everything before you rent it out, even the coffee filter wasnt changed had mold growing in it...plus i could not connnect to the wifi at all...went down an talked to the manager he told me they have never had a problem before and tried to tell me it wasd an apple issue with my phone LOL...ya right..as Ive never had a problem connecting to wifi before with my phone and PC...nice staff but very deceptive…

When checking in the girl was rude took a $600.00 pre auth on our visa the whole Inn was not worth 600.00 . The floor was dirty every time I flushed the toilet had to put my hand in the tank to flush it. The shower head was falling off the drywall. Never ever will I stay in this dump again. Told them the problems several times during our stay but fell on deaf ears.

Yes the view is alluring..the "management" are a mystery as they are always at their "high-end property"..never did get the opportunity to meet them. Moved into the Waterfront on March 17th, after getting critically and chronically ill from toxic moulds/concealed decay from my rental cabin on Gabriola Island. I was explicit in explaining to the front desk prior to coming there my hypersensitivity to mould and other mycotoxins. I was assured it was clean and safe for me..WRONG!!!! In the two weeks I stayed..(pre-paid for my second week in advance: $573 + $28 for parking) and had NO refund option, apparently, I moved within the Waterfront THREE times!!!! Room 222 - zero stars; Room 212 - zero stars; Room 410 - zero stars. All 3 rooms had the following similarities: rotted out wood/particle board under sink and cupboard beside stove where hot water tank is located, the mould was rampant. The shoddy piping is from the previous century I believe and has corroded and contaminated the water. There are micro organisms swimming in the tap water (both cold and hot) and they are not from the city water supply. I contacted the appropriate authorities regarding both the poor air quality and the water concerns. The faucets are out of a horror movie!!!!!There is buildup of all sorts of funky stuff...the bathroom ceiling fans are layered with dank mould and who knows what. The cooking/kitchewares are dusty/not cleaned. The ceiling fan is layered with dust/gunk. Housekeeping is a mere once a week and definitely needs training. Management did not reply to my messages to discuss my concerns (all 3 rooms had the same concealed and complacent problems) and wanting my second week of stay monies returned. I have sent an email to the Snuneymuxw Band Office to enlighten them of my horrible experience all round at the Waterfront. Hopeful they will intervene so the misrepresentation of their property will cease.…

Yes this building is older and needs some TLC, which is what the current owners are working on. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the view from our balcony was beautiful. We loved the old cement walls so we didn't have to worry about noise from others. And the price was nice!

The phones don't work (front desk says to use your cell); there's no air conditioning except to open a sliding door with no screen. The bathroom sink and tub were chipped and rusty; there were 2 teeny towels with which to dry your bod; the hallway looks like death row! Can it get worse? Yup. The price was NOT in line with the horrid conditions! We paid premium price for this awful room, and the front desk clerk simply said "The owners have a high-end property that they spend their time at ... you can't contact them". Oh yeah ... and they charged us $4.00 per day to park in their empty parking lot.

Room was basically OK but there was some kind of spill on the floor |(looked like animal barf) No dish towles or dish clothes The coffee machine had crystalized coffee all around the burner. No phone in the room so you can't call the front desk. The guy at the front desk said they are renovating but still has all the old stained carpets in the hallways thankfully they have replaced the carpets in the room with laminate flooring.Kind of a half renovation still has old tiles and old fan from 70's in kitchen. When I asked for a discount when checking out all they could do was 10.00 for a pricey room Wish I had seen the other reviews before we stayed there. we had gone to the Coast Bastion and they were full so the desk person there recommended them and called over to see if they had a room available We took it upon their recomendation that it was a good hotel NOT Wifi was terrible…
