We were delighted when we arrived in Chilliwack to find the hotel set on a quiet street with the exterior showing character and traditional grace. It is not a modern, swish hotel but rather one that exudes traditional values and solid service to visitors and the community. Our room was splendid with a large comfortable bed and all the conveniences... More

We've stayed at this hotel a few times, and always enjoy it. It's like staying in a museum. Love to see the pictures of the front desk from it's original days (opened in 1908) and see it's hardly changed. Lots of history here. The room amenities are basic, but you're not staying here for a big-screen TV. The beds are... More

Clean, friendly great ambiance. The bar had a rustic country feel with a great beer selection and live music. Breakfast was great on all fronts. The hotel is near an intersection known as 5 corners and can be tricky to navigate for the novice.

Thanks for your review and your comments about the entertainment - glad that it made for a great experience for you. And, we are pleased that you did find us - yes, the access to the front of the hotel on Wellington is a one way street coming down from historic 5 corners. Alternatively, come to the hotel up Main... Our room was large and spacious, with a separate sitting room. Everything was spotless and the staff were very friendly. I would come back to Chilliwack to stay at The Royal, if the opportunity arose.

Stayed for one night in their regular bath tub room with a queen bed. Never again unless I have no choice. In this case, I didn't as the Coast and Hampton Inn were completely full. Yes, it's historical and thus quaint. Yes, there's something to be said for character. Yes, the staff were very nice. But the walls were paper... More

Thanks for providing a review. Certainly, if you were looking for a major chain hotel, we are not that and may not be the hotel for you. As you noted, the experience we provide has a different character and a historical sense. The building does have a very "alive" sound - a result of the classical and historical wood surfaces... More

We stayed for 2 nights at the Royal, Saturday and Sunday Night. Our room was a 2 queen with claw tub. The room was very spacious, the beds are excellent, everything was clean. There are a couple of period pieces of furniture to store your things, a wardrobe and dresser, the TV is an antique as well, but we found... More

This review is a little late but we stayed at the Royal over the holidays last Christmas and it was great! The room was cozy and the claw foot tub was a fun experience. You could feel the history of this grand old house and I admired the modern updates. We ate at the hotel downstairs and the food was... More

Enjoyed our stay but can be noisy due to bar crowd nearby. Also having a bar fridge and hair dryer would be a great addition. Front entry way to hotel is not very alluring. Single rooms need more character and decorating. Too stark compared to king bed suite.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions about how we can be better. We'll look at those suggestions and use them as we make ongoing improvements to serve all our guests better. The Royal Suite is - well - Royal but adding more character to the Comfort Rooms, well that's where we will go. Thanks again for the comments. More

Used TripAdvisor to find something reasonable for a short nights stay, and settled on the Royal, which was rated #3 and a good price at just over $100. The front desk attendant was very friendly and humorous. Think his name was Aron. We were offered standard rooms or and antique (heritage) room. We opted for the cheapest of the heritage... More

Thanks for your review and enjoying the atmosphere and everything that makes the Royal the character place that it is. And yes, your room, Room "0" while smaller in footprint, carries a whole lot of history in the smaller space. There is a variety of rooms and room sizes so when making your reservation, do check that out as well.... More
