I recently stayed at the Astoria for one night during a short weekend trip. At first glance, the rooms feel very dated, small and stuffy. We figured it didn't really matter too much as we would be spending most of our time outside. I woke up with a fever, dizziness and what looked like hives on my arm. As the... More

Where to start.... This hotel needs to be closed !!! The place is very dirty ! Smells of mold ! Don't get me going about the state of the bed's ! The room was tiny and the bathroom was so small you almost have to sit on the bathtub to use the toilet !!! This place is in a great... More

When we booked our weekend online we were quoted a reasonable rate. However, when we got there they said their package wasn't reflected in the price of our booking and we owed them almost double what we were quoted. So we would be provided with $50 vouchers each night for the attached restaurant only. When we decided that we weren't... More

An excellent location in the centre of Jasper and only a short walk to and from some very good restaurants after a meal and drinks in the evening. Positioned opposite the railway station for the Rocky Mountaineer. This is one of the earliest hotels, and in fact buildings in Jasper and is a family business. The place has a lot... More

Dear Geoff H, We appreciate your review. You’ve noted some of the finer qualities of our hotel. Including our excellent location which puts our guests right in the center of the village of Jasper, literally surrounded by the Rocky Mountains. We are as well a heritage site for Jasper, a 90 year old hotel which is still owned and operated... More

I am pretty open minded when it comes to reviews and to feel that people can have a different experiences just based on their personality. But I first stayed in this hotel in the late eighties and a numbers of times since then and feel that over time this hotel has changed for the worst. This most recent visit will... More

I love the Astoria, not because it is the fanciest place in town, but because it has the most character. We were welcomed by the owner's son as he showed us around the hotel, dining room, and adjoined pub next door. We quickly realized that we had landed at the best location in town, being just a few steps from... More

We stayed here because of time issues - couldn't find another place that we could rent for only two nights on relatively short notice. Under those circumstances I can't complain too much but I wouldn't recomment it unless you too have such issues. This is a quaint hotel in a great location. It has a fair amount of character, and... The Astoria is my absolute favourite place to stay in Jasper! I have stayed in several other Jasper hotels but ONLY if the Astoria is booked- the Astoria is so special. It is the oldest hotel in Jasper National Park and certainly has the most personality- I love the retro hotel motif, the wonderful staff, and the family style care... More

We booked for 2 nights via Booking.com, and unfortunately were allocated a room on the second (ie top) floor right underneath the air conditioning plant. The noise and vibration were unbearable. It stopped around midnight but started again at 530am. We asked for a change of room but were told there was none available. We gave up our second night... More

booked what was stated as king sized bed, turned out it was two singles put together. So in the middle of the bed was the ridges from the two rock hard mattresses meeting. One of the singles had a lean to it so bad you couldn't sleep on it without propping yourself with pillows to keep from rolling!!! We ended... More
