Real pleasure to spend some days here. The Wapitis really walk around in the evening, fires allowed, wood for free with a nice fire pit. Great place from where to visit Jasper and surroundings. Bathrooms relatively clean, sani dump for free on the site.

Love, love, love this campground!! Was there second week in July 2014 but reserved my campsite online back in May. Campsite was quite large, private and sat on top of a cliff overlooking the Athabasca River. HEAVEN! Had only booked for 2 nights but decided to stay another 2. Couldn't get the same campsite again so stayed in 2 others,... More

Although we had not booked we managed to get a powered walk in site in the car parking area. After touring Canada and staying on expensive crowded city sites this was not an issue to us at this point, just be prepared to be close to your neighbours. The staff we found to be professional and friendly unlike the Lake... More

Stayed here 4 nights this July. The site was nice, nothing fancy but had elk come through our site almost everyday! Biking/walking trails are nice. Tips: - Look at the site online before booking. We drive around and glad we looked at our site. We have a 24' 5th wheel and there were sites that it would of been very... More

We ended our camping at Wapiti campgrounds, which is right across the way from Whistlers. The bathrooms and shower facilities were clean and well-maintained (park-ran bathrooms are pretty much all the same). The firewood situation was lacking. Maybe it was the time of year to blame, but the wood pile looked like mulch with a sprinkling of a few slabs... More

We got to pick our site right off the river. The bathrooms were clean and staff was great. There was a bear who had come by the campground and they drove past every 15-20 minutes to check for sitings and reassure people. My 2nd favorite campground in jasper

We tent camped here on way home from Alaska. We did not have reservations, but had no trouble getting a site. Although on this trip we were just passing through, I think this campground would be an excellent base for exploring the park, plus it is close enough to town if you don't feel like cooking a meal or need... We tent camped here for 2 nights on our honeymoon. The site was full while we were there so there were lots of neighbours but still fairly private. Our pitch (t4) was quite open but with some trees. We were half a mile from the shower block so it was time consuming to get there. Lots of people were driving... More

We booked our camping trip to Jasper only a week in advance. This was the only campground that had any electrified spots left. We pulled in with out tent-trailer after dark, in the rain, so weren't sure what we would find when we woke up. We woke to a pretty, well-treed site with a fire pit. Lots of space and... More

We tent-camped at Wapiti because we have enjoyed it in the past. We like that campsites are not as close to each other as in some other Cdn national park campgrounds, the campground is relatively close to the town of Jasper and to good hiking, and we like having seen elk and black bear in the campground in previous years.... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On the shore of the Athabasca River, Wapiti campground has nice private sites for tenting and electrical hook up spots for RVs. However, what makes Wapiti unique is that it operates year-round, offering 362 sites in the summer, and 93 winter camping spots with amenities like hot showers, electricity and fire rings. Wapiti is a great campsite for family outings at any time of year. It’s close to town for supply runs or rainy day movies, and in the winter campers often get first crack at the slopes and cross country trails (because to really appreciate a campfire, you have to use it to thaw your ski boots!) ... more   less
