Sunwapta lies a little way South of Jasper where accommodation is pricey. Though not cheap, Sunwapta Falls Rocky Mountain Lodge offers a slightly more affordable place to stay. It is clean, staff are friendly and the room had everything we expected. It is also on the Icefield Parkway, which is truly spectacular. I would recommend this place.

We ended up staying here because after looking at lodging options in Jasper we decided they were all too expensive. Sunwapta is about a 40 minute drive south of Jasper in the park, through some of the most spectacular scenery ever. It's also about the same distance north of the Icefields Centre and also close to Athabasca Falls, so it's... More

Every staff we interacted with was a customer service professional...helpful, smiling, accommodating. Dinner and breakfasts were great. Cute cabins. Clean and rustic. Beds could use an upgrade. A little pricey for the basics you get. Wifi was spotty and no cell service. Falls are a short walk away and the resort has bikes you can use to zip down there... More

We were upgraded to a cosy little cabin at the back, which was greatly appreciated. They are in need of an update. We really enjoyed the log fire. They provide a lovely service of starting up the fire for you. Nice touch! The food @ the restaurant was the best. All home cooked local favorites. Knowledgeable staff great service &... More

Stayed here one night while driving through the Canadian Rockies. My room was in a two-room cabin. It had a fireplace, TV, wifi, sink, fridge and bathroom. While the furniture is a little mismatched, the accommodations were clean and serviceable. The hotel also has a restaurant and is a 10 min walk to the Sunwapta falls.

The location of this hotel is perfect along the Icefield Parkway. It is because of this and that there are no other stay options in the vicinity that the property can charge their precious rate for substandard accommodations. Our room was small, dowdy, poorly it, with a table and two chairs. It has been many moons since I slept in... More

We stayed at the lodge in one of the little cabins. It was fairly warm in the cabin as that area was experiencing above average temperatures and the little fan in the room did not help. We had a meal at the restaurant which was very nice. Bit pricey but then you are away from anything else. Wifi was a... More

We stayed in a "suite" which were basically two motel rooms adjoined by a door - very average and beds were not that comfortable. Doesn't look like they've had a "refresh" in a long time. Didn't realize how far away from everything this place was - pretty captive to their one restaurant and store for any needs. The falls were... More

We stayed at this lodge at the end of June. It is very rustic, no cell phone service and wifi is iffy so I wouldn't recommend it if you want those modern conveniences. But if you want simplicity and to be close to nature without the crowds this is a fine place. The Sunwapta Falls are a short walk down... More

The resort is a 45 minute drive from Jasper, but if you're looking for a relaxing stay, this might be the place for you. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The cabin style rooms are comfortable and clean, with a nice porch to sit on and enjoy the evening. The resort has a nice gift shop, a cafe style... More
