The Black Cat was everything that it advertised.....I just failed to realize how dated and rustic the ranch is when booking. Upon our arrival ( hubby and myself) we found a note at the front desk addressed to us with keys. It was very unsettling to think we were the only people in this very large facility and no one... We arrived Saturday 15 May and Amber was a welcome sight. Frindly, informative and will let you know whats what. Never been in the mountains before. Spring time is chilly near Hinton but the warmpth of the ranch and staff Make it a very nice place to stay.

The Black Cat Ranch Guest House/Lodge is a lovely and historic retreat nestled at the edge of the park, surrounded by the great wilderness and natural beauty of the mountains. We stayed for one night on our way back to Edmonton from skiing in Jasper - it was the perfect spot to relax and rest before finishing our trip home.... More

Glad we opted for Black Cat Ranch which proved to be quite far from Jasper. Not fancy but very clean. Homely atmosphere and friendly staff.Great food, tranquil rural setting.Plenty of outdoor activities- walks, horse riding or just plain chilling! Well worth a visit.

Awesome stay at the BCGR! We spent 4 nights nestled in a great guest ranch tucked 10 mins north of Hinton. The owners really try to make your stay comfortable. Every morning you get to wake up to a fantastic mountain view and the best part is you are tucked out of the way of the highway, roads and people!... More

The place was not clean, very poor condition, did not smell good! Had to stay the night as it was so late when we arrived & it is so far away from anywhere! You also have to drive across a river, which had not been mentioned at all! The owner was pleasant, but unfortunately everything else was unpleasant, including the... More

Not sure what to expect having read some reviews. We arrived with a very positive family welcome. Just what I love. Enjoyed coffee and cookies whilst waiting for the room to be ready. Huge lounge, great views, horses outside. Room was good, beds very comfortable and good bathroom. Dinner was excellent and everyone guests , owners and staff all ate together.... More

My friends and fellow artists have been coming here for just over 10 years, once or twice a year. We come to relax, get away from it all and just enjoy our art and each other's company. Black Cat Ranch serves this purpose perfectly, no cooking, no dishes...a lovely clean and quiet sleep, wonderful food and fresh air for walks... More

What a great treasure in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains near Brule Alberta. Went to this ranch this past weekend. This is a great place to unwind. It was so quite and peaceful, no cell phones, no television, no computers, and some may call it rustic. Our group were the only ones staying there and we played board games... More

The people are wonderful and full of information about the area. Family style seating at the meals lets you get to know other guests. I was able to learn about so many things to do in the area and throughout Alberta from fellow guests who have traveled extensively. Very articulate and educated guests and staff. Simple, rustic rooms, extraordinary setting.... More
