HI Athabasca is set right in the heart of the woods. There is no running water, you have to pump water from the well and there are no indoor toilets, only lovely out-houses!! Like I said, it's not fir everyone but if you want a taste of simple living then I can't recommend it highly enough More

HI Athabasca falls was a truely unique place to stay. Once you get past the drop toilets approx 100 m away from the cabins and making the trek out to them in the middle of the night past all the possibly hungry wildlife, the place is a unique way to experience the canadian outdoors. The hostel manager treats you like extended family from the moment you arrive and I was only disappointed that I couldn't stay longer! Definitely would recommend this hostel for those wanting a cheap escape and to be... More

Both HI hostels are not located i Jasper, so you may as well continue out to Athabasca Falls as it is much better out of the two. Only a few dorm rooms (log cabin style) with about 20 beds or so in each. Rooms have heating and linen is provided. Toilets are outside (composte style) and there are no showers.... More
