The Hostel International was full, this was unfortunately the closest place available. Alarm bells started ringing at check-in, but it was getting late and I needed somewhere to crash for the night. The receptionist was gobby and full of her own crap jibes. It certainly wasn't her pleasure to be checking you in and was very unhelpful. The room was... More

Wasn't expecting much. Got even less. First stepped into our room and the tv was on, the bed was unmade, dirty towels on the bathroom floor, used cups and half finished cigarettes in the ashtray. It was like someone had just finished banging a prostitute in there. My friend goes down to complain and they send him back up telling... More

Asked to see a room and was shown one begrudgingly. For $51./nite in jul just wanted a cheap place to rest my head.No a/c or fan, appeared that an effort was made to clean the room however sink+shower were so old they had blue stains from cleaning agents in them.Couldn't wait to leave.

Well the title pretty much says it all. There was no redeeming quality to any aspect of this as a guest accommodation other than its fantastic location. Staff were not friendly, the room service consisted of new towels only , the rooms had no fan, no ventilation and were stifling hot, my room was incredibly loud due to a air... More

For $40 a night for a place to crash thats not bad. Not bad at all. You really are in the heart of the city, at night ppl can be seen walking up the streets for hours, music is always playing, (which i didnt mind, it helped me fall asleep), the staff were friendly. If your looking for just a... More

If you want a low cost place to crash, in the heart of the older part of town, where the pubs are rockin' and the people are out and about at night, lots to see within walking distance, many very unique shops, gallery's, restaurants, coffee shops. great area to party, leave the kids at home. Ask for a washroom in your... More

The management of the commercial hotel has been doing an excellent job at maintaining the commercial, and all the staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Overall I would recommend the commercial to any future travellors requiring a low cost alternative to the major hotels.

After paying full rack rate and requesting a non-smoking room I got a smelly smoking room that would far better suit a welfare bum. It badly needed paint, the TV barely worked at all and one needed to go upstairs to take a shower. The bathroom stank to high heaven, almost to the point of nausea. I was awakened twice... More

My partner and I stayed at the Commercial Hotel for one night because Lonely Planet had it in their Canada book, and it didn't sound too bad. Like the other person who has reviewed here, we didn't know it was cash only, so we had to go find an ATM, which he said was down the road, but turned out... More

We read the reviews online and they seemed ok and it was cheap so we thought we would stay there. We were arriving late at night from a flight so thought a hotel would be better than a hostel. The man who greeted us didn't have a clue what he was doing. It was cash only, which we had not... More
