If you've never stayed/been downtown Edmonton, you need to know that most hotels downtown were pretty much built in the eighties. Some of them are under major renovation because of the new Oilers Arena being built right now downtown (Started March 2014). The new arena is going to be right next to the Sutton Place Hotel. It could also be... More

I paid a discounted rate through American Express Travel and got a very poor room. Luckily, I was only there one night. The flooring and fixtures were not only outdated, but stained as well. couldn't tell whether the blemishes were permanent or the result of poor housekeeping. My shower ran only very hot water, so I could not shower in... More

Have stayed here many times and the place needs quite a bit of updating for sure. They are doing some renovations but it's going very slowly. The beds, the TV's etc have been updated but most of the walls and especially the bathrooms have not. The front desk staff was 50/50 depending on who you got. One of the ladies... More

This hotel is well situated in the heart of downtown Edmonton and is in the process of being renovated. This is evidently an upscale hotel with a elegant lobby and meeting spaces. The rooms were very good but the elevators and hallways were in disrepair with new furniture stacked throughout. The walls and Ciencias were in mid repair. These were... More

This hotel is on the list of the worst places i have ever stayed. Our first room had a dinner plate sized blood stain on the floor and the "upgrade" we were offered seemed to boast nothing other than a urine stain and a state of renovation in place of the blood stain......i would not reccomend the sutton in edmonton... Excellent location and reasonably modern hotel. I have stayed here a few times and will stay here again. The staff are friendly and good. The building and rooms are clean and welcoming. Bonus feature is Chop restaurant on the main floor. Food is god. Staff are amazing

Stayed at the Sutton on business. The hotel is getting some updates, which is good but overall is decent and clean. My room had windows which open, which I prefer, plus I was able to adjust my thermostat, too. I checked in early, which was appreciated. The bed was comfortable. The hotel is central and walking distance to lots of... More

Built in 1978, it's age is apparent. Dated bathroom fixtures, cracked tiles. Location was good with many restaurants shopping nearby. Greyhound bus depot two blocks away. I had the prime rib from the hotel restaurant. Asked for medium and got rare but not bad. Restaurant staff very friendly. No hot water for my morning shower. There are better places to stay... More

I checked into my room to find multiple stains on carpet, and a dirty bathroom sink. Asked for different room and was "upgraded" for free to a "deluxe" room which was only slightly cleaner. Threadbare carpets, peeling wallpaper. Remodelling was occurring - new furniture was piled high in hallway with only small walkway for hotel guests to get through -... More

I stay here relatively often because it is a preferred hotel for work. It is well situated in the heart of downtown and adjoins a large shopping complex with lots of restaurant choices. My check in was fast and efficient which is the norm for this hotel. All rooms seem to be basically the same with a king bed. My... More
