The restaurand on the lower level past the reception and lobby has a spectacular view with of the North Saskatchewan River, HOWEVER... Decided to go to dinner to enjoy the nice afternoon weather, Ordered a bottle of Shiraz and the quiche sampler priced at 18 dollars a plate. You had a choice of soup or salad with the meal. My... more

The view from the rooms overlooking the river is amazing. The hotel is beautiful and our room was very comfortable. The staff were all very courteous and helpful. Room service and the Harvest restaurant served delicious food but both were quite expensive. There are lots of restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The valets were very fast in getting your... more

We were there for a semi-official and formal diner, but with a relaxed "weekend casual" experience. Whole affair was poor quality, inefficient service and highly overpriced for what we got. There are many better places in this city. more

My husband had a meeting in Toronto, so we stayed at this hotel for free, but otherwise, I wouldn't pay for a room here. They were cramped and small, and the bathrooms were never cleaned properly. The pool and exercise room were a nice touch, and the location can't be beat. It was within walking distance of many major attractions.... more

I stayed the last Fri night in May. This property is in the heart of Edmonton's downtown - just a few blocks from the Churchill Square Arts District (symphony, live theatre, main library, and under-renovation Art Gallery.) Check in was slow, mostly because of a person without a reservation negotiating over room type - and only one staff at the... more

We had stayed only one night while attending the Eagles concert and had booked into the King George V1 suite. It was a truly nice room, you first took a stairwell of about 20 stairs to the upper landing which enters into a living area. Off from this is the sunken bedroom with 4 poster bed and off on another... more

Spent first night of 2 week trip to Canada at the Fairmont. Booked airport transfer through the hotel and driver was waiting with card just as planned, and charged to hotel bill so I didn’t have to worry about changing currency, which was very helpful. Had booked a King View room and after a bit of shuffling the room allocation,... more

Located on top of a hill in downtown Edmonton, the Hotel MacDonald, affectionately known as the Mac, combines historical charm and top notch service. Built in 1915, it's definitely not a modern hotel but the renovations make it the best stay in town. Some noice during the day due to current sixth floor renovations but the great food and comfortable... more

Having stayed at many Fairmont properties throughout North America the MacDonald is one of the worst. The location on Jasper Avenue although close to downtown is very difficult to get in and out of. I booked a executive king suite that has a rack rate of 700 dollars! Yes seven hundred bucks. I used a Presidents Club upgrade coupon to... more
