I stayed at the Palliser for six nights. And if it is all about location, this place is perfect. Shopping, restaurants and tourist attractions like the Calgary Tower are all within walking distance. Being one of the oldest hotels in town, the Palliser has the ambience of the good old days...but the charm is fading. The public areas such as... More

Not all Fairmont hotels are created equal; some are in the same category as the Ritz, some need a lot of work; the Palliser belongs to the latter category. The public areas are impressive, well maintained traditional elegance. But the rooms......need work. We had the "third smallest" room, according to the receptionist. The size of the room was actually very... More

After looking at quite a few rooms here and not being very worried about price, I discovered that the best way to go here was to get a very large suite. This was really nice - otherwise, the standard rooms seemed in need of some makeovers although we had been told that they had been recently renovated! The suite definitely... More

My family ( 2 jack russells included) stayed at the Fairmont Palliser in Calgary, and it was wonderful. We chose to stay at this hotel for 2 reasons, the location in downtown Calgary, and for the pet-friendly policy. Upon check-in, which was very fast, our 2 dogs each got their own little welcome package. It contained doggie poop bags, a... More

**My Standard Disclaimer: I am not a snob who demands everything be five-star all of the time. I am not a cheapskate who refuses to pay for anything decent and then complains about the service and facilities. I am an ordinary person who only asks that my room is clean and the service and amenities offered by the hotel are... More

I stayed at the Palliser May 5-8. This hotel used to be the old train depot for the Canadian Pacific Railroad (which still runs right next door more on that in a minute). The lobby is beautiful, its decorated in turn of the century furniture and marble. Check in was a breeze but I was part of a large group... More

My boyfriend and I were in Calgary to attend the wedding reception of our friends, so there was a block of rooms booked at the special rate. When we arrived at the Fairmont, we were greeted immediately by the bell hop and ushered to the front desk to check-in. Check-in was smooth and we were informed of an upgrade to... More

Thanks to you guys, my fellow travellers on Tripadvisor, we got the best out of our stay at the Fairmont Palliser. It was included in a ten-days Ski Canada package we booked through a German agency. We got there in the afternoon and left in the morning. Basically, that's what the Fairmont is perfect for. Beds are comfy, rooms are... More

This is a nice option if you prefer to stay downtown. Calgary is not the easiest city to get around due to traffic and deteriorating roads but this one is actually fairly convenient. You can often get a good rate from their website if you book within a week of your stay. Generally nice rooms, but a bit hit and... More

If you take a look at my photos first, you probably won’t believe this is a Fairmont Hotel. We stayed 2 nts at Fairmont Palliser fr Apr 11 to 13. We arrived late on Friday night (11:30 p.m.) at the Hotel. We self-parked our car & paid $11 ($5 over-night rate Mon - Fri + $6 week-end rate) instead of... More
