I deliberately stayed at the cheapest hotels/motels I could find, via Priceline, on a recent trip to Alberta, and loved Econo Lodge in Calgary, at the University. Everything was sharp and clean and well-cared for. Topper?--an great cup for morning coffee in the room--no paper, no cardboard, no plastic; the real, wonderful thing. Econo Lodge sits in a line of... More

We stayed here because it was a decent drive to the airport. The room was clean and the water hot. The location was good for us. It's just a nondescript Econo-lodge that is about 15 minutes from the airport without traffic.

Given it's good location close to downtown and along the LRT, And the rates that are extremely Reasonable, This has to be one of the biggest hotel pleasant surprises in Calgary. I paid less than $100 for my room, And generally speaking the hotel is cleaned well run and there's even a bit of a free breakfast. The only real... More

I booked this hotel through Hotels.com and had a slight issue with the booking. After the front desk guy (Rory) figured out what was going on, he was able to get me checked in. He also asked me why I was in town and when I told him I was here to see the Hawks play in Alberta, he said,... More

We never had warm water, the elevators broke, and the night front desk guy was rude. We told the front desk agent, who said they'd look into it, on the first night. We never had anything in our room other than frigid water. We were travelling 8 hours to stay in Calgary, and I had brought a couple pairs of... More

It seems that the costs of accommodation for solo travelers in Canada are relatively high because you will hardly find small rooms with one bed and low price. Econo Lodge offers quiet rooms and relatively low prices comparing to neighborhood but paying more than 120 CAD per night I would love to get at least true butter in the morning... More

Very helpful staff, I stayed in the tower with a king size bed and very large room. Room was very clean. Enjoyed having such a big room, bed was very comfortable. View from window is not very exciting. Wi-Fi is not exactly up to par with what Wi-Fi should be in this day in age. Would recommend staying in the... More

This must be one of the quietest hotels in Calgary and one of the cleanest. Beds are decent, the staff are good and the location is excellent. The continental breakfast is not good, but they are rarely good from any hotel.

This is our choice of hotel whenever we go to Calgary. The location is excellent (C-Train, McMahon Stadium, 16th Avenue) are all close by and you don`t have to fight the downtown traffic and congestion. The rooms are comfortable, and have everything you`d expect. Our room was in the midst of some small ceiling repair in the bathroom, but didn`t... More

We booked two rooms for one night. Likes: decent deal through Hotwire, discounted tickets to the Calgary Zoo (25% off), free parking. Neutral: continental breakfast was a little wanting. Disappointed: one room had a very strong odour (strong whiffs throughout the night), the pool/jacuzzi area was small and disappointing. Some of the other hotels in the area had water slides,...
