I've stayed at the Sandman a number of times over the past few years on business and have found that while it delivers a roof overhead, there are better deals to be found elsewhere. We've had issues with the front desk staff not honouring requests for specific types of rooms that they confirmed during reservation. Under NO circumstances get put... more

It's not new, flashy or 5-star. But it is a great value for those looking for a place to stay in downtown Calgary. The rooms are clean, the service is good, the restaurant in the hotel is good and it's right downtown. So, there's really not much to complain about. more

I'm guessing this is more of a business hotel than a tourist hotel since there are not a lot of touristy things to do in this part of downtown. Also, I stayed here four night and rarely saw the same guests twice -- that's typical of a business hotel. When I checked in, the desk clerk reminded me that (1)... more

I stayed here for two nights in February 09. The labby is nice and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately the rooms weren't very nice or luxurious but considering the price of this hotel versus others in Calgary- it was fine. I probably wouldn't stay here again simply because it wasn't that nice and the bed wasn't too comfortable. The room... more

For the price I got through GTA Hotels, I was satisfied with the hotel for a one-night stay in November. The front desk staff were friendly and fairly helpful, the cab stand and train platform outside were convenient, the restaurant was good, and the city area around it seemed okay. The hotel definitely shows its age, but my room was... more

Our family stayed at this hotel in the busy week of the Stampede. Firstly the food was good and the restaurant pleasant. The location was very central with great public transport almost at the door. I would recommend this as a good place to stay if you need to be in Central Calgary. The only main down fall for us... more

Despite reading all the reviews on this site, I decided to stay at this hotel. Big mistake! Despite being put in a smoking room when I specifically reserved a non-smoking room, the hotel has no redeeming qualities. It's location is horrible, on the fringe of downtown, next to a very seedy part of Calgary. The hotel is maybe the equivalent... more

I stayed in the Sandman hotel in downtown Calgary for 3 nights, and had all sorts of problems. The city of Calgary has an attendant in the hotel parking lot, so I paid over 50 dollars for one nights parking pass from the attendant at the door only to find out the hotel sells them for much cheaper (they waived... more

Stayed with a party of 10 at the beginning of April 2008. We had no issues, we found the staff very helpful, the rates were good and the lesiure and bar facilities were better than average. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Downtown Calgary - Look no further. more
