There is a huge dichotomy between the level accommodation and the level of food and service at the restaurant at Deer Lodge that it's hard to believe the two go together. The lodge: low ceilings, dark hallways, worn out rugs in common areas - but generally OK. The rooms: old wallpaper, old windows with peeling paint, old dirty carpet, poor... More

I'll talk about bed bugs after this paragraph. We checked in late at night, they were the first place we stopped at. $150 for their smallest room, which was small by hotel standards. I'm giving one of the 2 stars for the hot tub, which was open until 11, and was really hot. Unfortunately the room was hot as well,... More

During a 1 month RV camping trip from Calgary to Vancouver, we decided to treat ourselves at Lake Louise and stay in an actual hotel (as Lake Louise was to be the highlight of our trip). We loved the Lodge - our room was very spacious with a little balcony and the food was delicious. The rooftop hot tub was... More

The reviews are all pretty accurate, however - We found the staff very friendly. No there were no coffee / tea facilities, but we just asked for a kettle and a couple of cups and they were only too helpful to provide them for us as we had our own tea & sugar. The rooms are small I agree, but... More

I was anxious about our stay as had read the reviews but to be honest we were pleasantly surprised. It feels like a welcoming ski lodge and yes the corridors and doors need some TLC but the lodge itself was lovely, with old leather chairs and a welcoming dining room. Our meal was great and the staff could not have... More

First the pluses - location as you can walk to Lake Louise although get to Moraine Lake for a quieter experience, but get there early. How on earth the Fairmont at L.Louise was ever allowed to grow into the huge monstrous building it is now - well that must be another story! Totally ruined the gorgeous lake for us, so... More

I had read lots of reviews about this place but decided that I'd stay and make my own opinion. Well, the reviews were right. This place is overpriced for what you get. No views from the heritage room found on the third floor with no lifts either so be prepared to drag those suitcases up 3 levels. There is a... More

The place looks nice enough from the outside, but the inside is quiet old and in need of an upgrade. The receptionist obviously did not want to be at work and was incredibly unfriendly. The room she gave us was definitely not a double room, but rather a single room with a large bed. The level of cleanliness was also... More

Deer Lodge is in a great location within walking distance of Lake Louise . I am sure that 25 years ago it would have been the place to stay. Unfortunately it still seems to be stuck in the past. I like rustic but these days you do expect a certain standard of accommodation, especially when you are being charge top... More

Set off this morning came across the deer lodge called in and had breakfast. 2 mixed grills which included Elk and cranberry sausages and heaps of coffee. Excellent food and service. Highly recommended. Thanks
