This hotel is titled heritage, what I think they mean is that the rooms are small, the plumbing is at best sporadic and the service sultry. It is close to Lake Louise which was why we chose it. But for better service and value try one of the hotels in town. The rooms are small we had a tower room... More

This hotel is very expensive for what you get but it IS within walking distance of beautiful Lake Louise. That is all it has going for it. The hotel has very dark hallways and needs major updating. The restaurant is very expensive and poor quality food. It was in the low 40s at night when we were there and we... More

We arrived at Deer Lodge on a grey wet day, a mix up in the booking meant one of our rooms was not as expected, not an auspicious start. However, after some discussion, the reception staff changed the rooms and once we were shown to our rooms (though one was small, with a poor bathroom so remains a down point),... More

Trading on its location within walking distance of Lake Louise, this place has little else to commend it in our experience. The most expensive place we stayed in during our 2 week tour, the room was cramped, dingy (just the cold central light), poorly equipped, lousy value for money and poor service. We waited 30 minutes for a pre-meal drink... More

I reserved 2 adjoining rooms and the one room had a sink only in it and they had to go to my room to use the very small bathroom. The room looked like a monks cell. Food service was terrible, the food so-so. No elevator so you have to carry your own bags up the stairs. The bartender says he... More

Booked for one night, what a huge disappointment. The room was no more than a cupboard on the ground floor opposite reception with half the bathroom blind missing so had to leave bathroom door open to obstruct view, the room was so dated and nothing like the photos portray. Our most expensive hotel on a 3 week trip and by... More

My wife and I spent three nights at Deer Lodge as part of a 10-person tour group. The Lodge has an older and somewhat newer section and we were fortunate to be assigned to the newer section. (Other members of our group assigned to rooms in the older section had their own tales to tell.) When we arrived at our... More

We booked here because we had one day in Lake Louise and couldn't afford The Fairmont by the lake. The location is good for walking down to the lake early before the hoards of tourists, or going for an evening stroll, but apart from that it's overpriced and overrated. The main hotel seems "quaint" with some nice old photos on... More

We stayed at the Deer Lodge for one night earlier this month. Our travel advisor told us it was a rustic hotel and nothing fancy but as we were only staying one night we said it would be fine. The lady on check in was pleasant but the process was long winded. We we had booked suppose a heritage room... More

Upon arriving Deer Lodge's grounds looked nice and the building itself has a unique charm to it. Entering my room, I was happy with the decor however the carpet looked filthy, like it wasn't vacuumed or shampooed in years (my parents made the same comment about their room). The carpet in the hallways were filthy as well. I was here... More
