This is a very dated hotel badly in need of refurbishment. But as this is one of the few hotels near Lake Louise, and tour parties use it, there is little incentive for the owners to do anything. The hotel has plenty of character, including the building itself and the residents lounge. But the rooms are small and lack basic... More

Lovely location. Had a small room, our luggage was carried up the staires for us and a kettle, cups and milk were bought to our room at our request. Bed clean and comfy, shame about the dust and cobwebs underneath it, maybe there was a family of something living under there!!!Food was delish, service rather slow, mentioned this to the... More

This is an old hotel in a great location. We had a small room on the third floor, and being spoiled Americans grumbled while climbing up with our luggage. The room was adequate, we had a good night's rest. The location, as noted, is wonderful, a short stroll to Lake Louise. We really enjoyed the restaurant. Our table had a... More

Despite arriving very early, we were able to check into our room - a large heritage room with balcony and great views, comfortable bed, soft towels and good supply of toiletries. We did notice some very small rooms, so important to check what you are booking. Staff were very helpful and friendly, in particular the handyman who removed several inches... More

This was supposed to have been a "superior" hotel in our itinerary. It turned out to be drab, had poor service, good, but vastly overpriced food, and was definitely a fire trap. Sited 4km from the village, three was no shuttle bus to the village, meaning that if you are not mobile, you're stuck! Would not stay again.

A short stroll brings you to the magnificent Lake Louise and the start of a number of great walking trails (leave your car in the hotel car park). Deer Lodge is an old building and this brings with it a number of limitations - small rooms, dodgy plumbing - but the hot tub on the roof is marvelous. The restaurant... More

Great location, quaint hotel with lots of lovely features like an open fire. Check in was easy, we had a really lovely lady who was so helpful and just really lovely, Jenna. She was definitely the nicest and the most helpful at reception! Breakfast.....really slow service, let's just say they looked like they'd rather not make eye contact! Good size... More

The proximity to Lake Louise is a real selling point without paying Fairmont on the Lake prices. It is a traditional and quirky lodge rather than a boutique hotel however the room we had on 3rd floor was a heritage room and was spacious and comfortable with a huge bed and a balcony with aview of the mountains opposite. The... More

fantastic location close to a Lake Louise. The floors and landings were dirty and evidently hadn't been hovered for some days. The smell through out the hotel including the adequate and sparse bedroom was off putting. There was no lift or concierge help with luggage. The only saving grace was the quality of the food and service in the restaurant... More
