Deer Lodge is virtually a stone's throw from the famed Lake Louise. It's an older hotel, built in the wood-framed lodge style, and is quite attractive. Parking is provided (thankfully!), and it's a short walk from the lot to the front desk. Our room was on the third floor, and we were grateful for the prter's assistance in getting our... More

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay at Deer Lodge. I’m glad you enjoyed your time with us and were able to sample our Rocky Mountain Cuisine. We hope to welcome you back in the future; if you are looking for a slightly larger room next time around, you might enjoy one of our upgraded Heritage rooms. More

The location is great- about 5 minutes from Lake Louise so that's a plus. The hotel itself is ok but the rooms are overpriced and disappointing. We had a adjoined double room that, for some reason, had a bathroom sink in the bedroom. The room got cool and we couldn't find the thermostat so we called reception and were informed... More

We stayed here in September this year and the weather was gorgeous, the main rooms in the hotel are really lovely with real character and a wonderful atmosphere in the hotel. The hotel has a stones throw from Lake Louise which was a bonus and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant. The rooms are another matter they let... More

I spent a night at Deer Lodge during my visit to the Canadian Rockies. Although it was early September, the scenery resembled winter rather than late summer. There was snow everywhere. While I realise the lodge was old and historic, many areas needed repair. The floors squeaked, while the room was quite dirty and run down. The bed was too... More

We were only here for a night passing through, but it was one of the nicest stays we had during our two weeks in Canada. The hotel is beautiful and old (and a lot nicer to look at than the Fairmont next door!) and had a really lovely, welcoming feel to it. Great location too- Lake Louise was basically next... More

Our room was dirty on arrival with peanuts on the floor by the bed, hair in the bath and a vent about 3ft from where a sleepers head would lie in bed that hadn't been cleaned in months. It was thick with dust. We complained immediately and someone turned up from housekeeping and said they would get someone to try... More

There is a huge dichotomy between the level accommodation and the level of food and service at the restaurant at Deer Lodge that it's hard to believe the two go together. The lodge: low ceilings, dark hallways, worn out rugs in common areas - but generally OK. The rooms: old wallpaper, old windows with peeling paint, old dirty carpet, poor... More

I'll talk about bed bugs after this paragraph. We checked in late at night, they were the first place we stopped at. $150 for their smallest room, which was small by hotel standards. I'm giving one of the 2 stars for the hot tub, which was open until 11, and was really hot. Unfortunately the room was hot as well,... More

During a 1 month RV camping trip from Calgary to Vancouver, we decided to treat ourselves at Lake Louise and stay in an actual hotel (as Lake Louise was to be the highlight of our trip). We loved the Lodge - our room was very spacious with a little balcony and the food was delicious. The rooftop hot tub was... More

The reviews are all pretty accurate, however - We found the staff very friendly. No there were no coffee / tea facilities, but we just asked for a kettle and a couple of cups and they were only too helpful to provide them for us as we had our own tea & sugar. The rooms are small I agree, but... More
