It's a grate place to start in Banff, you can choose the room of your preferences or your pocket availability, they have 6, 4 and individual rooms with some lockers in and out the rooms (you should bring your own padlock for the room locker) the people is very nice and you don have to worry so much about security... I have just read the previous review and have to say I had a different experience when I stayed here last week. Not being a seasoned or teenage hostel stayer I was wondering whether I had booked the right place - I DID!!! Almost every member of staff were helpful and generous with their time. The communal areas were clean... More

We stayed here to save a few bucks but were disappointed. The staff were a bunch of zombies and did not care about anything but taking our money and when the next party time was. Lots of young transients staying there that looked like bums and really out of it. The dorm we were smelled and was full of suitcases... More

Hello, I'm very sorry you had such a poor experience. I don't know much about the date you stayed, but I can assure you that this isn't the norm at our hostel, based on the feedback we get from other guests. I take pride in offering the best hostel experience in Banff and it's terribly disheartening to hear of experiences... More

Hello, thank you for taking the time to review our property. As noted in the prior review, we've been having some challenges with our WIFI over the last week. However, as of this morning, our Maintenance crew and IT support finally managed to track down the hardware issue. We now have full WIFI signal back in all our guest rooms... More

We booked for a private room with a double bed and the room given to us was incredibly small! It was quite a challenge for us to store our luggage in the room and we had limited walking space. Cleanliness was ok and although the hostel is kinda far from town, I thought the complimentary bus tickets that was given... More

Hello, It is true that our Budget Double rooms are quite small; we have a variety of room types, up to suite-style cabins with two queen beds and a seating area with leather sofas. I encourage all guests booking to review our room types listed on our website where there are virtual tours of each room type so you know... More

I pre booked the HI for 2 weeks upon my arrival to Banff to use as a home to help find a job. The facilities of the hostel are first rate - The kitchen is brilliant, there is good wi-fi, washing facilities and communal areas. I had 2 problems with this property: 1) The staff - Were absolutely atrocious. I... More

Hello, I'm sorry you had such a mixed experience at our hostel. I see that you stayed with us a year ago in June of 2011; our internal guest surveys and comments online are indicating that our guests find our staff to be very helpful and involved at present. This is an extremely important element of the hostelling experience to... More

Excellent service from staff, very helpful in providing booking services. For those who stay in dorms the 2nd floor of the common/sitting areas is very quiet with a pleasant view. Only thing yet to be improved is the dorm's lockers. Unlike other hostels many residents here stay for months to work. They often occupy more than 1 storage lockers with... More

The hostel was lovely, really cosy, nice sturdy pine beds, the bathrooms were brilliant for a hostel, it just had a nice overall feel to it. The bar was good and the staff friendly and helpful. The downside is the location. It's not in the center of town, whilst there is a bus, it's annoying to have to wait for... More

This is the first time I have ever stayed in a hostel and I have to admit I was very pleasantly surprised! My family and I stayed in one of their family rooms. We each had a comfortable bunk bed to ourselves (with reading lamp and outlet) and our own locker. We had a small bathroom to ourselves as well.... More

I was impressed by all of the Canadian hostels we stayed in, but HI Banff Alpine Centre really stood out. Superd setting, quiet and beautiful but with free and easy bus links into the town center for the life and activities you may want. The rooms were clean, and having a sink and toilet per room was luxury! All the... More
