The facilities are great and is amidst the nature, a little on the outside of banff town. The cafe serves great food, loved it. I wish the bed had a curtain for some privacy. You would have to take a bus from banff which isnt too frequent, so commuting to the hostel can be a little painful.

This hostel is incredibly overpriced and offers very few redeeming features. Pros - good location on the outskirts of Banff, plenty of car parking and nice outdoor area to sit. Cons - bathrooms were old, very poorly ventilated and not cleaned properly or regularly enough. We had a private room which have zero air circulation and wasn't pleasant at all to sleep in. The communal kitchen was small for the size of the hostel and was incredibly dirty and we had to clean everything before we started to cook each meal. The communal areas were small and provided no opportunity sit and meet other travellers and the staff seemed more concerned with socialising than actually doing any work. Unfortunately there aren't too many other affordable options in Banff but I would avoid this hostel unless you absolutely have to.

This is probably one of the best hostels I've stayed at. The location is brilliant - it's slightly outside of downtown but you can walk there in around 20 minutes or get the bus which is right outside of the hostel and it takes you there within 5 minutes (you also get a free bus pass from the hostel). Once downtown you can shop for groceries, get drinks or food or walk to nearby hikes or get the bus to lake louise. The hostel itself is clean and the staff were friendly and answered all of our questions. The cafe and bar had great deals and the food was tasty. The views from the patio were lovely. The rooms were basic but clean, however I would say that curtains on the beds would be a great bonus. The bathrooms were also clean although there were only two showers on each floor. I would definitely stay here again.

Booked into a female only dorm to be accompanied by an older man in the bed facing mine who does not speak my language, when I complained they told me there is no other room for him or I to move to and that he checked in as a female… when quite evidently he is not a female. Nothing was done to resolve this situation, it was the hostels fault and I was made to remain in the room with him after expressing my concerns

Stayed in a private room in the main building my first night as I wasn’t able to book a cabin for 3 nights. The main building is like a university dorm. You hear every footstep, hallway conversation and toilet flush. Didn’t get much sleep. Kitchen is crowded and small. Cabin 2 is at the end of the property. Private and quiet. Comes with fireplace, tv and modern bathroom. Decor is a bit dated but the price is right! Cabin renters use the kitchen in the Mary Belle building. Bright, clean and spacious. I had a rental car so free parking at the hostel and there is free all day parking at the railway station in town. IGA grocery store is on your return to the parking lot.

Stayed here while on a group hiking trip. It's a hostel and if that's what you're expecting, you will be satisfied. We were in the main building. We had a room with 4 bunks for 3 of us, so the little bit of extra room was helpful. Good storage lockers. Beds were comfortable enough. Public facilities were decent. Good kitchen area, well stocked. Easy enough to catch a bus into town or walk, if you don't mind a good walk (uphill from town).

Room Tip: Get the "free" bus pass at the front desk. Better than trying to drive into town and find parking.

Really friendly, helpful staff, clean rooms and facilities, large kitchen area, clean and tidy. A good games room with a bar too! They also give you free bus tickets to use in the town. Great stay! Thanks for a lovely time.

We stayed here since it was one of the cheaper options and we were only looking for a base to explore the area. On a whole the hostel is okay - the location is good and the free bus passes into the town are a great touch by the hostel. However the kitchen is quite small especially if you have a large group in there (which was something that happened every night during our stay) and there are limited areas to sit around the whole hostel meaning you often cooked then had to stand and eat in a corner somewhere! Cougar Petes (restaurant on site) was great and very affordable perfect for when you didn't feel like cooking! Also the bar downstairs had free pool which was nice in the evenings! Additionally there were only 4 (2 female / 2 male) showers per floor (we estimated about 40 people per floor) which could be a problem some mornings.
