Great location in town. There was a lot of noise from the next block which had a house with a lot of young people. They tented to get home early in the AM. Great value Ate at St. James Gate pub! Nothing really good about the place. more

We found the hotel to be clean and comfortable, but a little bit warm for a desk fan. As with previous comments, we felt that an air con unit would have made the two night stay a bit more comfortable, most hotels we stayed in throught our trip had air con. Would request a first floor room next time, as... more

Stayed at the driftwood after starting out at the caribou lodge. same company owns both. The room is nothing special but you are right in the center of town. After a day's hiking you can use the whirlpool at the hotel next door. Better value than Caribou Lodge more

Had I booked directly through the hotel I would have asked for a refund, however, since it was through Hotels.com I couldn't do that and the window to cancel for a fee was over. The good: -Towels and sheets were decent. -One of cheaper hotels in the area -Walking distance to shops and food. The bad: -Very dirty. My wife... more

I recently spent two nites in the Driftwood, I knew it was an older hotel and actually the rooms were nice and clean, the location was great., but..... when it is hot in the summer the rooms were like an oven and a simple fan in the window just didnt cut it. It felt like 80 degrees in the room... more

From what I have read, it seems that the driftwood inn is the worst hotel in the world! This is not the case. I'm sure that the other reviewers expected perfection on account of where they were. This is never going to be the case as it is clearly a budget hotel. Add this to the fact that people tend... more

My fiance and I chose the Driftwood Inn during our stay in Banff over the New Year. We bought a package that included 2 days of skiiing at local resorts. We stayed 3 nights. The Inn itself is just fine, what you would expect from a ski lodge. Over priced, yes, but it is Banff remember. The real problem started... more

Management response from
Andre Baribeau, Banff Lodging Company Head Office

On behalf of the Banff Lodging Company, I would like to apologize to our guest for their experience described in "Too Little Too Late". We certainly were disappointed that the actions of some of the hotel guests were so disruptive. Although beyond our control at the time, the guests were asked to leave the hotel and have since been asked...

On our arrival, our room was in need of some serious cleaning. In recompense, we were offered a complimentary breakfast, which was good. There is no air conditioning. Our room on the first floor was unbearably hot, even though it was quite cool outside (June). Opening the windows was not an option, as many noisy trains pass through Banff overnight!... more

The Driftwood Inn is well located, close to the shops and restaurants on Banff Ave. It is an old motel that requires maintenance. The grout and cocking in the shower had mildew and could use a good cleaning with mildew remover. The plumbing is very noisy and we were woken at 2 am when the pipes in the walls began... more
