When I checked out, and the very helpful staff at the Ptarmigan (next door, where you do everything) asked how did you find the hotel I said ' Well, great location, but you should demolish it and start again' He agreed saying.. 'i think thats on the cards for 2015'. The main problem was the incredibly selfish late night revellers... More

Compared to the other hotel prices in Banff, it was the cheapest we could find with our Best of Banff gift card. The room was big, 4 queen beds in the entire room, that was set up like a little apartment. The beds were not bad, but not the mountain beds they said they were. And everything was outdated and... The other reviews align with our observations... but it is a BUDGET accommodation and any one that books now days without reviewing is a TAD CRAZY I think. We found the fan in the cupboard and without this it would have been uncomfortable. The entry is a bit daunting/vacant... but the room was at least clean, as was the bathroom.... More

The location is perfect, in the center of Banff town, where you can walk to supermarket in 5 minutes. The receiption is inside the next door Ptarmigan Inn. The staffs are friendly, & very helpful. Guests can rent bikes, & we rented 3 days when we stayed there. The price is good for budget travellers. If the room can equip... More

I read the reviews and thought the negatives were not so bad. Hotel is at rear of property so hard to see from street. Close parking was awkward. Poor signage to check in at Ptarmigan Inn. Weird empty space where lobby was located. Large room with poor lighting. Hot soda machine. No a/c or fan. I would have overlooked all... More

No AC, very hot, did have a fan in the room, window hinges broken, no screen, door jamb has been broken several times and did not feel safe. Bed was in the shape of an old worn out saddle. Parking was scarce. On the good side was location, location, location. Bathroom was clean, rest of the motel, not so much.

This is one of the cheaper options in Banff, so obviously we were prepared for an older room, no lift, check in at the hotel next door, old TV with distorted colours, etc. I have no problems with that. But on our first night, while the sheets were clean I could see a dark stain on the mattress protector below.... More

It was the only decent priced thing in banff . every hotel in banff is overpriced. It was moderately clean, but definately not spotless. Bed was pretty comfy. using the other hotel's amenities was a nice bonus. Not a great place to stay but not a complete dump.

I spent 4 nights in Banff, my longest visit yet. I have stayed in Banff many times at various hotels, including the Driftwood. This time I chose the Driftwood because my regular discount hotel, the Bow View Inn, was booked. This is the last time I go cheap in Banff and never at the Driftwood again. However, that is more... The driftwood in was by far the cheapest place to stay in Banff. And with immaculately clean rooms and the use of the amenities next door it's hard to justify paying extra to stay anywhere else. Right in the heart of the town with lots of parking outside your window came in very handy as we had our new mountain... More
