Good value for our money, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and available. Food in the dining hall was terrific. Best room in the facility is the Great Room with the view of the mountains. I love the location of the Banff Y in the town of Banff. Even my room had a mountain view. I would definitely come back... more

I stayed here at the end of my winter in Canada and chose the Y mountain lodge over other Banff hostels because the rooms were good value and seemed to have a bit better facilities (larger room and ensuite bathrooms). The staff were friendly and the bedrooms were clean and comfortable enough. The building used to be a hostpital so... more

I stayed there with a friend in a private room with shared bathroom. The room was OK, the bathroom was reasonnably clean. The kitchen however was a bit of a mess, and was too small for several people to prepare a meal at the same time. You have to borrow cutlery, pots and ustensils from the reception, and return them... more

We're a family of 4 and we booked a 'family room'. This room was essentially 2 double beds, coach, private bathroom and small kitchenet. The location is perfect, just a short scenic walk over the bridge to downtown. This is a very simple no frills place. Our bedding was changed every couple days and it's essentially an old hospital so... more

I stayed at this hotel in july 2008 with my boyfriend. we made a round trip through west canada. The hotel is good located, near village center. Banff is a very nice village, but a little bit touristic. anyway.. the hole hotel wasn't very familiar, the corridors were very dark. the furniture in the room were very old, even a... more

Yes there was construction work happening while we were here, but we weren't disturbed by it. On arrival I worried about traffic noise but that wasn't much of a problem either. The kitchen was appalling but I understand its getting rebuilt. Majorly underequipped (and under-cleaned) for the number of people using it. The room was excellent value. About $92 for... more

The location of this place is excellent 5 minutes walk from downtown. All the rest is, if you don´t pay much you can´t expect much. So when it comes to price this place is very cheap having in mind it´s in the centre of banff. Enviroment is very hostel like in a big way. As the building was a hospital... more

I stayed in here in mid-Aug of 2008 in a Private bed and bath for 95.00 per night. The room - Nice, clean and simple. It had a bed, a dresser, a night table, closet area, single chair, mirror and extremely small bath. The bathroom - sink, toilet, and very small shower. When I first turned on the shower, it... more

We had a great 2 night stay here in a private double room with ensuite bath. The room was clean, quiet and friendly. As most other accomodations in Banff cost double of the YWCA I highly recommend it for budget travellers. more
