I am a non-skiier, so I don't have other ski hotels to compare with Sunshine Mountain Lodge. However, relative to other hotels I've stayed at I don't have many kind words for this little hotel halfway up the hill at Sunshine (Banff). Access to the hotel is mainly by gondola, and experienced skiiers have the option of sending their bags... more

Stayed at this hotel in 2007, had SUCH as fantastic time that we rebooked upon departure for Dec 2008! What Happenned to the hotel we fell in love with? We arrived, having decided to splash out on the $480 per night top of the range suite, to find it hadn't been cleaned for a LONG time. Dust so thick you... more

Sunshine Village offers obviously some of the best skiing in Western Canada. The hotel on the hill is no different. It's ruggedly manicured, well maintained, superbly staffed, and reasonably priced (except at Christmas). Great place to stay for anyone - young or old - looking to catch some fluent nightlife and great snow the next morning! more

Hotel is at the base of the 4 mountains, Standish, Lookout, Wawa, and Goats Eye, base elevation is around 6000ft. Access is via Gondola and that closes at 5:30pm, KEY fact, and starts at 7:30am. Bags get brought up to hotel and returned down to your vehicle via the gondola by staff but they need a 3 hour margin, i.e.... more

What a location! After a 20 min gondola ride up the mountains to 7000 feet you arrive at Sunshine Village. The hotel is as it advertises - ski in ski out, right on your doorstep. We stayed in a waterfall room on the back, cheaper, quieter but no balcony like the other rooms. We did have a few issues though.... more

I stayed here with my boyfriend and a mixed group of six others (22-40yrs) over New Year. We all had a fantastic holiday and loved waking up with a view of the waterfall run outside our window. The place is very isolated, great for a short break but not a lot of variety if you are staying longer. We did... more

I stayed at this hotel with my husband for two nights at the end of December 2007. The hotel was not particularly interested in our having an enjoyable stay. There were a number of incidents which illustrated this (for example, the staff and managers exchange the details of their hangovers within hearing distance of the restaurant patrons, and no one... more

Although Sunshine Village Resort is the only on-hill option, it didn't matter because the hotel is great for hard core skiers and snowboarders that like a bit of luxury. The hotel was recently renovated with modern amenities. The rooms are small and nicely decorated, but that's okay because you just need the room to sleep right? The real fun is... more

I stayed at the Sunshine Inn with two of my sons during the first week of April 2007. I had read the selection of varied reviews with interest and occasional alarm but need not have worried because we had a fantastic trip. We arrived when the snow was falling and the temperature was 22 below. By the end of the... more

My wife and I spent two days of fantastic spring skiing in early May this year. The snow was great, and the crowds were non-exsistant. Unfortunately, some problems with the hotel marred our stay. The re-done rooms are not bad, but a few details need some attention. Our bedsheets had tears, the blanket had some suspicious stains, and the bathroom... more
