I am a non-skiier, so I don't have other ski hotels to compare with Sunshine Mountain Lodge. Sunshine Village offers obviously some of the best skiing in Western Canada. The hotel on the hill is no different. It's ruggedly manicured, well maintained, superbly staffed, and reasonably priced (except at Christmas). Great place to stay for anyone - young or old - looking to catch some fluent nightlife and great snow the next morning! more

Hotel is at the base of the 4 mountains, Standish, Lookout, Wawa, and Goats Eye, base elevation is around 6000ft. Access is via Gondola and that closes at 5:30pm, KEY fact, and starts at 7:30am. What a location! After a 20 min gondola ride up the mountains to 7000 feet you arrive at Sunshine Village. The hotel is as it advertises - ski in ski out, right on your doorstep. We stayed in a waterfall room on the back, cheaper, quieter but no balcony like the other rooms. We did have a few issues though.... more

Although Sunshine Village Resort is the only on-hill option, it didn't matter because the hotel is great for hard core skiers and snowboarders that like a bit of luxury.
