My family just returned from a stay at the Douglas Fir. It's not a 5 star place and the loft suite was a little small for our family of 5, but other than that it was all we'd expected. The staff was very nice, although we didn't ask much of them. The water slide was a great diversion for our... More

We had a group of 5 including 3 teens, in a unit with a loft and kitchenette. The space was manageable for the 5 of us with no problems. A dishwasher was a welcome feature, though not absolutely necessary. The room's haven't changed much since the last time I stayed in the early 1980's but again this isn't a major... More

There is not really ANYTHING we can find wrong with the Douglas Fir. I had checked it out in the fall (October of 2005) during a one day visit to the town on business and decided then and there my wife and I would be coming back in 2006 for skiing at March Break. As fate would have it, we... More

This "lodge" style hotel was great for the 5 adults and 1 child travelling with us. We stayed in the 1 bedroom lodge, a queen size bed in the room and the upstairs loft had 2 queen size beds. Turned out that one of us had to sleep on the sofa bed.... was not very comfortable! The beds are much... More

DFR is far out of town up the top of the hill acorss the river. You can walk into Banff but its a long way and you might as well just get reception to buzz a cab for you. We stayed in a 1 bed with loft, which had a double bedroom and a loft with twin queen size. The... More

We stayed at the Douglas Fir for a week during August 2005 in one of the 3 bed A Frame cabins. They aren't 3 bedroomed is the 1st thing I'd say-the loft is one room. The other is-where do you put your "stuff" in this place. There is absolutely no storage for suitcases at all and we spent the week with ours... We stayed here in the Mt. Rundle suite in early July 2005. The suite had two upstairs bedrooms, a downstairs large bedroom and a sofa bed. The view from the room of the mountains was beautiful and it was nice to sit out on the balcony at night. We were also glad we weren't staying right in Banff which was... More

We were assigned an excellent spacious studio room in the main block. The kitchen facilities were first class and even included a dish washer. The place was spotlessly clean ...as were all the kitchen utensils. First class air conditioning system with infra-red remote. I can’t really fault the place …even the view from the patio window was superb. The management... More

My parents, myself and my two kids stayed the night in a loft condo. We found it very roomy and comfortable. My kids especially loved the waterslides. If you're looking for somewhere to eat that's close by, I'd recommend the youth hostel across the street. Cheap and cheerful. The front desk staff were very helpful - only drawbacks were having... We have just come back from Canada and spent a few days in Banff, staying at the Douglas Fir Resort. I can honestly say that it was a great stay. We stayed in a loft apartment which had everything we needed. It was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our children (7 & 2) loved the resort... More
