We loved the Douglas Fir. After reading reviews and looking at the website we did not have really high expectations, however it was the best family resort which we could afford in August in Banff. What a pleasant surprise. We had a one bedroom condo with a murphy bed in the living room for the kids. New appliances and new... More

We stayed at this place for a couple of days...be careful the website says condo's they are actually 4-plex's so they can be noisy with your neighbors. This is what we stayed in. When we first checked in we went to our condo to find that it smelled like the fire pit was in the middle of this room. We... More

We stayed here for three nights in early August. We had a loft room - double bedroom downstairs and beds upstairs. Whilst I agree with the reviews saying the decor is a little dated this hotel worked really well for us. We were travelling with our son and his friend, both 16 year old boys, and they felt they had... More

We stayed in chalet 114 which backs onto the tennis court. Great for families as Grandparents slept in downstairs bedroom and Parents/Kids slept upstairs in the loft bedroom. The waterpark was great, not too busy and a great way to fnish each evening. The main pool is tiny and not really suitable for anyone else other than very young children.... More

We chose to stay at Douglas Fir as most travellers on this site recommended it for families. We were two families with 6 kids from 7 to 18 yrs travelled in mid January. The condos were clean and presentable, warm & cosy with a fireplace. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was do-able. The indoor swimming pool was a... More

My family (with a 6 years old and a 9 years old) just came back from Banff. We stayed at Douglas Fir for 2 nights. Kids love it!!! The water slide was a hit for my 9 years old and the indoor playground was very big and fun for both of them. We booked a one bedroom condo (1 master... More

We stayed at the Douglas Fir in June 2007. I was looking forward to the Chalet with separate rooms for my sons. There was 3 rooms and a couch. I should have known right from entering the building, the smell of smoke was everywhere. Then we started a fire in the wood fireplace later that evening, smoke came into the... More

We stayed here for 7 nights on a family vacation - 2 children, aged 3 and 1. The key reason for the grading is that it is ideal for families. Personally, for a week I really don't want to be stuck in a single room + bathroom with children, and having a kitchen gives you the extra flexibility. We stayed in... More

We stayed in a 2-level condo at the Douglas Fir, and it worked quite well for our group of 4. The upper level has 2 beds and there is a downstairs bedroom, and 1 1/2 baths. There is a wood-burning fireplace (wood provided) and small kitchen. The pools are nice, though the waterslides were not operative during part of our... More

I stayed here for a week, attracted by the kitchens in the units. My stay was comfortable, but having no wireless internet (despite what is advertised) was not great. The hotel feels and looks dated, and is ideal for families on a budget. While I have stayed in worse places, I have stayed in better hotels for the money.
