We arrive in Banff last minute and tying to find a hotel, b &b, motel anything that would allow dogs was like pulling teech. The Douglas fur did allow pets which was lovely. Husband and I stayed for a week at the Douglas Fir Resort. Our room had a fabulous view of Tunnel Mountain. Room was spacious & clean, kitchenette was very useful and well stocked with equipment. We got the special that includes groceries and used everything they gave us. Groceries are terribly expensive in Banff so this was a good deal.... more

Had a Studio in Lodge Building. Very clean, rustic, double Bed, comfy Pull out couch, full kitchenette, and a great mountain view from our balcony. Great place for kids, Pool, Waterslides, wilderness hiking paths. Short drive to Banff, Gondola, Hot Springs. Overall great facilities for families. more

Family and kids had a great time at Douglas Fir. Douglas Fir is a big resort. the studio condos are in the main lodge, all quite crowded, many with dark north-facing balconies.. We were 2 families with children ranging from 6 - 12 who stayed at the Douglas Fir for 2 nights in July. The rooms were a little dated and small with the murphy bed down but we still really enjoyed the accommodation. Everything was spotlessly clean including the stove, fridge and kitchen area. Now be prepared that everything in Banff is overpriced....so if you are looking for value based on the money paid, I would give this resort a thumbs up.
