I read the reviews for the Banff Avenue Inn and was a little dubious to be booking this place. The bad reviews relate to things that are petty in my opinion. Yeah .... this place is run by a bunch of young people who are there for a life experience, paid little but get great perks like free meals, accomodation... more

We stayed here over Christmas and New Year 07/08, and I was pretty concerned over what we might have let ourselves in for given some of the reviews on here. But we had a brilliant time. The staff were charming, always ready to help - they all came from the ski operator company and were all of university age or... more

Firstly the positives. The place looks good, the Honeymoon suite was lovely, great location. Now the negatives. Where do we begin? On arrival we found the parking lot (underground) was a nightmare to get in and the parking spaces were the tightest we've seen in Canada and the US. When we mentioned this to the guy who checked us in... more

I stayed here during the ski season and booked through a tour operator who take over this hotel during the winter months. As such when you stay here then its on a full board basis and to put it bluntly the food and wine included is just awful esp. when you consider how good the food is in Banff generally.... more

A Major disappointment. Stay clear of this place My first clue should have been they had a vacancy in August in Banff..................now I know...........don't book here. We stayed one night-that was enough, I do not know where to start. The room was not clean, there was hair in the bed (yes before I slept on it) and the pillow cases... more

Strange place this really - good location a few mins from downtown. Queen suite was large and airey with comfortable bed(s). The whole atmosphere of the place was more hostel then hotel -from the poor cleanliness to the meagre breakfast and the amatuerish staff - it wouldn't hurt to make just a bit more effort. Not terrible, just could have... more

I also experienced being charged $20 (plus tax) a night more than I was quoted when I made a reservation. Explanation was faulty (tax on tax) and dumbo me paid it. Also, didn't even get a detailed itemized bill. more

Where to start? First of all, the rooms do not look like the photos on their website...those are the luxury queen suites. Second, no elevator in a 3-story hotel. Third, when we checked out, they tried to charge us a higher price than what we were quoted when we made reservations. Fourth, no one can call you directly in your... more

A very nice hotel, nothing spectacular, but very nice. The rooms are a very good size with no complaints about decor, cleanliness or facilities. The dining room is just about functional but a little on the small size. The food was good most of the time although choice was a little limited on occasions. Tasted freshly cooked at all times... more

My family stayed here for two nights in a two-bedroomed suite. It was very good value and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were large and well-furnished. The beds were brand new and very comfortable. The in-room jacuzzi was a hit with my sons, though they were put off when the tap spurted out limescale, but this is probably... more
