I simply cannot give Shadow Lake Lodge high enough praise! The food was plentiful and delicious, the staff make you feel like one of the family, and the accommodations are unbelievable for being so remote. The beauty that surrounds the Lodge is breathtaking, the hikes challenging and highly rewarding and the guests that pop in become instant friends eager to... More

Shadow Lake lodge is as close as one gets to an in-town hotel experience in the back-country. The hot showers, extremely clean toilet facilities, solar and gas lights, all come together to bring the creature comforts of the city. The food is excellent, the service terrific, and the cabins are well appointed, comfortable and roomy. If there is a down-side... More

Hiking the 14 km well marked RedEarth trail took us 4 hrs. We arrived at 2 PM and devoured the quality fresh fruit, home made desserts, cheeses, and had tea on the porch. For dinners we had herb encrusted halibut, pork tenderloin, and fresh BC salmon. Salads, side dishes, breakfasts and lunches were also amazing. The cabins were spacious, comfortable... More

We biked the first 10,5 km which I highly recommend. This lodge brings in all their stuff by horses, so you can imagine what the trail is like, not the best for hiking. If you start early you can do a beautiful loop through Whistling Pass. And you'll arrive just in time for afternoon tea. The only problem with that... More

Have been to this special place many times. We hiked in over Vista and Arnica Lake. A 15 km hike through outstanding scenery and mountain lakes. With some elevation gain and loss, it was a good workout but nothing extreme. Hiked to Haiduk Lake on the 2nd day, an easier choice as it's mostly flat. Hiked out via Red Earth... More

Spectacular hiking, scenery, food and lodging. This is a back country gem that should not be missed. Alison Brewster and her team made our visit special with their hospitality and great food - and the trivia questions (to see which table went first to the buffet) were an added bonus. Easiest way in is the hike up Redearth Creek -... More

If you are looking for a remote, quiet, commune with nature experience...this is the place to go. After your 9 mile "moderate" hike to the lodge, you will be greeted by friendly staff, awesome food, cozy clean cabins & unbelievable beauty. My family & I spent 2 nights there & wish we had stayed at least one more night. The... More

We feel incredibly lucky to have traveled here. This was the highlight of our trip and started talking about coming back before we even left. There is something so rewarding about hiking in and earning your place to sleep. The people we met were extremely kind and fascinating. The food was incredible and plentiful. The washrooms were clean and the... More

I have been to Shadow Lake Lodge many times - winter and summer. The journey and the destination deliver something different and wonderful every time. This time we biked up Redearth Creek which gave us time and energy the second day to hike to Haiduk Lake in a beautiful hanging valley south west of the lodge The great food and... More

We loved this place. It is a mistake to stay only two nights, however, since you would only get one day of actual hiking. We stayed three nights and loved it. The food was lovely and we met interesting people. The only down side was the toilet situation. The middle of the first night was cloudy, pitch black, and I... More
