My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in September. The weather was quite rainy and foggy, but despite this we had an amazing and memorable visit. When the clouds parted, the views were spectacular. Some things to know: -Bears? We didn't see any and felt safe on our hike in. We were constantly passing/ passed by others -The... More

Walk in 14 km from Red Earth parking, majority is a uphill easy fire track, with the last hour on a hikers moderate track uphill. Took us 3.45 in the rain and mud and 3.15 return. If on a bike you must leave it before doing the last section of about 1 hour. Rooms are cabins with heating, comfy beds... More

Loved this place! It is an eight-mile hike to the location; not too hard except for the last mile and a-half. Once there, you are well taken care of - the food was amazing, especially considering the location. The day hike suggestions come complete with a map and we enjoyed both of the ones we took. One tip - try... More

Going back in time is going back to simple life. It feels great to go to a place that is remote, quiet, surrounded by nature and no reception of modern technology. The service is excellent , the food is delicious. The cabins are cozy, there are outhouses and showers. the main building has the dining room, the building beside it... More

We decided to finish the season of hiking and came across this lodge by a chance online. The staff on the phone was very polite. As one of our party was traveling in Europe to finalize the details was a bit tricky, but Lynn at the reservation desk was very accommodating with our time line. we booked for 2 nights... More

If you are looking for a unique and memorable Canadian Rockies experience, this is it! We (3 adults and 2 kids, ages 8 and 9) spent one night at Shadow Lake Lodge the night of September 11, 2015 and loved it! The bike/hike in was a bit of a grind at times, but the sights and culinary delights that awaited... More

The hike to Shadow Lake Lodge is very manageable - only during the last 2.5 miles the terrain gets a little steep. There are several hiking trails from the lodge that offer great views. If you don't want a lot of physical activity while you're there, a community cabin offers books, games, cards and a warm fireplace. The food was... More

Just back from 2 nights at Shadow Lake. Have been to a number of other lodges in the Canadian Rockies, including Num ti Jah, Emerald Lake, etc. and SL immediately became our favourite. 3 reasons. 1. The isolation. Once you get into Banff/Jasper/Yoho etc the views are all spectacular and while Num ti Jah or Emerald Lake may be a... More

Our family of four spent four days at Shadow Lake Lodge. It's the beauty, peacefulness and activity of backpacking, yet, you have delicious meals and afternoon tea prepared for you and you get to sleep in beautiful cabins with cozy down comforters. After dinner, we enjoyed talking to other hikers and playing games by the fire in the lodge. What... More
