We are an American couple who love Italy and speak fluent Italian. We booked two nights, sight unseen, at Masseria La Chiusa. Our experience was excellent. The only "negative" (if one could even call it that) was that it was a bit of a challenge to get ourselves on the right road when we were initially trying to locate the... More

Stunning sunsets, peaceful rural setting in a mountainous valley. Our Family of five stayed for 9 nights in one of the apartments adjacent to the main hall. The children (9,10 12) explored the surrounding area, used the pool daily and play areas. We used the farm as a base for exploring the North-West of Sicily. Palermo was 30 min away... More

We wanted to stay outside the city but have convenient access to Palermo, Monreale, Bagheria, Cefalù, Segesta etc. The situation is incredibly beautiful, access was fast and easy, and we received helpful advice on parking in Palermo itself. The room was spacious and comfortable (though the bedroom was up a big flight of steps), and the meals were generous and... More

The property was unmanned from 6pm in the evening. There was no one onsite to ask for anything from that time. The Wifi was only available in the main building so could not be used after 6pm. It is not available throughout the property as stated. The pool we were told was closed as it was too early in the... More

Amazed about such a review. The smallest flat we have is 50mq, 3 times bigger than usualy double rooms (16mq). The smallest flat has a 70x70 shoewr, bigger than usual 50x50. We do not have a guardian during the night because it is a farmhouse, not a hotel, so it is not necessary. We have a satellite connection because in... More

We just returned from four nights here and had a wonderful stay and agree with all the other very positive reviews. We arrived at Palermo Airport at 10 PM and decided not to rent a car and try to find the place at that time of night. A good decision! It can be hard to find the first time and... More

I stayed here recently for 4 nights and enjoyed a really restful time. We ate in the huge dining room every night where the food is tremendous. We enjoyed meeting the other guests. There is no menu, which makes every meal a real surprise. Most of the ingredients are grown organically on the farm and it is all beautifully cooked... More

We stayed here for 4 nights in early September. We found the grounds beautiful and the house steeped with history and rustic charm. The food was fantastic. I can't describe in words the flavors we experienced. The staff was fantastic. Mario was a delight and helped us with whatever we needed. While other reviews made it seem like it was... More

We very muched enjoyed our stay in July 2013 for its calm, large rooms, its refurbished restaurant and the delicous food and wine from their own domain. Best place for visiting Monreale and Palermo but with a stay at clean air. C. van Garrel

The estate was built between the end of 1400 and the beginning of 1500. It consisted of confortable houses, a chapel, gardens and vineyards, an abundant water supply, two mills as well as a paper factory. In 1740, the architect Venanzio Marvuglia renovated the estate. Today, the conglomerate present architectural features which are the expression of the different changes over time in the arts and crafts. With its sombre but refined architecture where the farming tradition and the bare rock perfectly mingle, the confortable spaces dedicated to our guests open up. The large restaurant hall is the historical "Sala delle Botti" enriched by the ancient trusses and original columns. The Chapel is placed inside the "Baglio", which was once the heart of the social life of the village. The Chapel has recently been scrupulously restored; the work has carefully uncovered the original frescos, tangible signs of the evolution in the figurative arts.Mounted in the Jato Valley, Agriturismo Masseria La Chiusa is a precious historical and architectonic jewel and a comfortable solution for those who wish to combine the discovery of feudal Sicilian traditional and cultural itineraries to their holiday relax. ... more   less
