The hotel, which occupies the 3rd floor of the Icefield Center, is a nice comfortable hotel. Our room, which was on a corner was huge. It had 2 queen beds, a sofa, TV, chairs, desk, etc. The bathroom was large. However, the views out the windows were fantastic. Out the front was the Athabasca glacier and out the side windows... more

The rooms at the Columbia Icefield Chalet are standard motel rooms that are clean and well maintained. But the draw here is the location -- the building is directly across from the Athabasca Glacier (see photos). Paying a little extra for a glacier view room is worth it. The complex is located about halfway up the Icefields Parkway between Banff... more

It is important to go in knowing what to expect when you book at this hotel. You're going to pay a pretty hefty price, and it's mostly for the view and the convenience. The rooms are spotlessly clean and quite spacious, but don't expect to feel like you're in a cozy mountain-side inn. It feels a little more like road-side... more

We stayed at Icefield Chalet for 2 nights in late July as my teenage sons had booked a two day iceclimbing trip with Cirrus Alpine Guides. In the Icefields area there are no stores, no gas station, nothing except the hotel building - which contains exhibits on the first floor, welcome center and the SnoCoach business on the second floor... more

We stayed here one night since there are few hotels very near the Columbia Icefield/Athabasca Glacier. It is expensive compared to other area hotels, but the room was large and clean and had a great view of the glacier. If you're not planning to spend a whole day here, it's probably fine to stay in the next town over (like... more

We stayed at this hotel while travelling through the Rockies with family. It is a neat place to stay for a night because of the novelty of the icefield but there isn't much else to do. For us, that didn't matter as we were knackered and went to bed early! My only complaint would be the prices in the dining... more

While I researched this location, I did not fully realize just how remote this place was until we arrived. We only stayed one night, as I was not feeling well and didn't want to be THAT far from civilization for too long. It is exactly what it states...ICE FIELDS. Pros: The view was indeed breathtaking and the hotel rooms were... more

We stayed at the Chalet in September on our trip through the Rockies. Our room had a glacier view, it was spectacular watching the sun set over it. The rooms were very large and comfortable. The loft rooms would be great for a family with older kids. Too many steps to the loft bed for really young children. The Cafe... more

What an experience. We arrived around 5:00 PM as the tourists were departing. It does not get dark until after 10:00 - the experience of going out and viewing the glacier with no one around was amazing. We did not have a glacier view, but had many opportunities to go outside to view. The rooms were very nice, especially the... more

We found our room spacious and comfortable. It was good value at $110 in early June (but it's more in the peak season). There were tea and coffee making facilities. The dinner at the restaurant (in the same building but apparently separately owned and run) was quite nice. Unfortunately you need to walk up 74 steps to get into the... more
